It IS a way to convert someone when you wear the shirt hoping someone will ask. Give an example of contradiction from the bible.

It IS a way to convert someone when you wear the shirt hoping someone will ask. Give an example of contradiction from the bible. Well, in the Old Testament, there were times when God's people killed their enemies, despite "Thou shalt not kill." An example might be the guy who killed the giant with his slingshot (I can't remember his name *hasn't looked in the Old Testament for a while* ), or any time two armies hacked away at each other (sorry I can't be more specific). This is hypocritical in itself, now that I think about it... Anyway, then Jesus came along and said, "Love your enemies/don't resist the evildoer" and stuff like that. In the Old Testament it was apparently ok to kill your enemies, just not your own people, or at least that's how people interpreted it at the time (correct me if I'm wrong). So now the New Testament is canceling out some of the stuff from the Old Testament, and vice versa. In my opinion, Christians should obey Jesus's word over stuff from the Old Testament. Jesus himself said that we should take this "Thou shalt not kill" thing (among others) a step further. Those weren't his exact words, but you get the picture.

That'd David and Goliath. "Thou shalt not kill" is basically don't kill without God telling you to, so it wasn't ok unless it was God's will.
When Jesus died, the world was wiped clean of sin. There is, of course, still sin but it's now forgivable, unlike the old testament. That's whole reason why there's an old and new testament.

The most famous contradiction between the old and new testaments is 'an eye for an eye' vs. 'turn the other cheek', but if you want I'll try to find a better one.
The problem with thinking it's okay to kill if it's God's will is that there's no way to know for sure if it is. In the Old Testament if God wanted someone dead He did it Himself a lot of the time, but in the New Testament Jesus says to turn the other cheek, like, ALL the time.
I suppose if you wear a religious chirt in the hope that someone will ask then that is trying to convert them, the way you said it sounded like you meant a person might be randomly wearing a religious shirt just because it was comfy or they liked the design.

They thing I also found hypocritical is Adam and Eve. In the Bible, it is said that incest is a no-no. Yet, Adam and Eve had exactly 2 sons, and yet these 2 sons had children themselves. As most Christians don't believe in the Other Woman (so to speak), it had to have been Eve mothering the children.
Or, at the very least, it was not specified who was the mother of the children. And the versions that I have read said that Cain and Abel never married anyone. I could be wrong about the marriage thing; I honestly don't remember.

I'm an Atheist too. My mother tried to raise me Episcopalian, but I never felt like I belonged in a church, or felt any kind of "divine presence". In high school, I was Wiccan, briefly. But rather than actually believing in any of it, I think I was just trying to annoy my mother, now that I look back on it.
I thought there were two other women... I know there's Lilith, but I can't remember the other lady's name. I know the first wife (the one whose name I've forgotten) Adam was supposed to have had was too submissive, and so he asked for another one. And then he got Lilith, who was too independent for him, so he asked again, and then he got Eve.

It depends which version of the Bible you read. In the ones we have there's just Eve.
I suppose most of the contradictions depend on whether you're a crazy-dedicated Christian who takes the enitre book as absolute truth (in which case it's full of contradictions) or a loose, liberal Christian who accepts that some is myth, some is history, some is metaphor and some is advice (in which case it's pretty consistant).

So I gathered. I think Christianity in England is looser than in America, we do love our cop-outs and out pagan iconography. There's even a Green Man on the pews in my village church! American churches seem much stricter.

It really depends which church. Most of the Catholic churches around here are strict. The Christian churches are the more lenient. My church is awesome. They aren't strict at all. They don't make you do anything, but you are free to try anything. Basically, you can do whatever you want or don't want, within reason of course. Pretty much everyone there, old and young, are there because they want to worship God. Also, we don't go out and try to convert people. We go on trips and to random events and do good deeds or just have fun and we just let people ask what the large group is. It's like the shirt thing except not.

My church is pretty loose, too. Last Sunday we bounced beach balls around the congregation for the first time ever (the Youth Group planned the service). It was fun. ^__^ I think a lot of the adults didn't like it much. I think they should loosen up. It was just a demonstration of a Mennonite convention the youth attended (I didn't get to go; high schoolers only T_T).

How big is your church's youth group? Do you have a youth praise band?

Including myself, there are around 8 people (I think I'm counting everyone). It's pretty small. No youth praise band.
I'm going to a church camp next week. *anticipates*
