My fiancee cosplayed as Lain, even had her hair dyed and cut to match it. ^_^

The Lain hair cut is the single most awesome thing in existence, and if I was a girl, I'd probably have my hair cut in the same way.

Ah how I love Lain, it's so messed up. Dad watched an episode with me one day and after he's like 'What was THAT about?'
I just brought volumes 5 & 12 of Mars, so happy. I had volumes 1-4 then 6-11, so now I'm back on track.

I found a crazy-amazing shoujo manga called Happy Hustle High (why does everything take so long to get to England?) which really makes me giggle. Most of the characters seem like jerks but are then secretly nice, and then there's one character who seems nice but is secretly evil!

After looking at it for six months, and finding it somewhere with a low enough price, I brought the full series of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. $150 in one shop and $75 in the second shop for exactly the same box set... weird. Also considered buying the Lain box set, but decided one box set was enough.
Also brought the 13th volume of Mars (manga goodness...) but as I am re-reading the series currently at the 6th volume, and that happens to be in my bag that's locked in my OH's cabinet that's locked inside his office building until Monday morning (long story), I can't read it yet...

I can't stand the original Bubblegum Crisis, the 2040 version rocks though.

I'm not big on anime. To be honest, I prefer something I can read.
But I've seen (in Japanese, on youtube, with illegal subs, sshh)
Ouran High School Host Club, which won't die on me. xD Loveless, which I'm still addicted to. Kamisama Kazoku, but not the whole series. Cute, though. Kyou Kara Maou, up to about episode 50, because even Wolfram's antics get boring. e_e
and probably some other series I can't remember.
I liked the dub of Rave Master, though I think if I heard it now I'd hate it.
But most of my money goes on manga.
Only recently have I tried to fix that by selling my full set of Chobits on eBay. xD

Is Chobits (manga) actually any good, I've considered getting it, but haven't as yet.

It's full of horribly obvious fanservice which gets annoying after a while (unless you're the kind of person that the fanservice is aimed at of course) but other than that I think it's pretty good.

The fanservice can be... overwhelming, but it's a sweet story at heart.
Mind you, it's nothing on the level of DEARs or the suchlike.
And the laptop persocoms are adorable. Plum, in particular.

I read the first few chapters of the manga. The artwork was pretty good and surprised me as it´s CLAMP who´s doing it and most of the CLAMP-manga we got back then were done by the one artist who... well, whose drawing-skills don´t convince me. <.<" Still, the manga couldn´t hold my interest. I had the feeling they didn´t know what to do... or where the manga was going. When they build up some suspense it was all drowned again by lenghty dialogue about something they had already talked about. I don´t want to bash it, really! But it´s not my cup of tea. XD But hey, there´s a reason why so many people like it. :] As for the anime, nope. Haven´t watched that. XD But then, I´m a terrible anime-watcher. I really should watch more but I always forget about that and the dvds are so expensive. And they don´t get cheaper. Normally, over the years the dvds get cheaper but not with anime... But that is nothing compared to the dvd-prices in Japan. You have to spend a LOT of money to buy a dvd there. So, I guess we are kind of lucky still. XD

Given the cover art nobody who didn't like fanservice would even pick up DEARs, it's plastered in the sort of big-breasted, cute-faced, scantily-clad girls that make manga so popular among adolescant boys.

I have both Chobits anime (full set) and Chobits manga (all but last volume). I can't remember which I thought was better cause it's been so long since I read or watched it, but I deliberately haven't brought the last volume cause I thought the ending to the anime was pathetic, and hoping it's not the same as in the manga.
And I'm not really one to pay attention to fan-service (I'm more into the story and/or the art), but what is DEARs?
