You do? I hear nothing. Yeah, my cunning disguise fooled them Because, let's be honest, who would suspect a 6'2 squirrel?

If I have dreams tonight of being attacked by giant squirrels, I'm blaming you.

I didn't dream of giant squirrels, so it's fine. Panic over.

Catch-up time! I'm so overdue You asked me that already, when you said what vehicle I use. I can drive, I just don't. There's no need in London. I move the same way everyone else does. Put stuff in a bag/friend's car/hired van. It's not a matter of how much I'd allow them to change. Once you sign over your book you don't get much actual say as a writer unless you're writing it yourself. I wouldn't like to see them butcher my book or anything but I appreciate (from doing it myself) that you sometimes have to change a lot. Really, it depends how the end product turns out, but either way I'd be rich by then so I could drown my sorrows in champagne. The Alaizabel movie isn't happening now. It seems to have quietly died. There were too many changes to go into, but it doesn't matter since you're unlikely to see 'em on screen unless someone else buys it up.

I don't think I actually knew what the different POVs were when I wrote Broken Sky. So I doubt it's quite as considered as Dune was. It was probably meant to be omniscient, 'cause I am. ;D Think we had this one before as well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Bones. It's out of date. I still have one on the go, but TBH most of the films are either in development hell or have died. It's a cruel industry out there. Nah. Just 'cause you can think of something doesn't mean you'd do it. It's only psychopaths that don't know the difference between fantasy and reality. Otherwise I'd be forced to believe the horde of frothing-at-the-mouth Daily Mail readers who think that everyone who plays Grand Theft Auto immediately goes out and murders a prostitute afterwards. Buy the Writers and Artist's Yearbook, read all the stuff on getting yourself published, and follow it. Otherwise, the most important thing to do is keep writing, always and everywhere you can, cos everything you write makes you better.

And again, Chris has very good things to say.
Now for a question: You've worked on various films in some way or another, right? What films? Even if obscure, I may know of them anyway. I just think it would be cool to know what films my favourite author ever was involved in :3

/sob But what's the other film?

Chris sometimes can't answer about specific titles, what with copyright laws and the like.

Really? I figured if the film had come out it was ok. I mean it's not like they won't give the director or actors' names because of copyright laws. I mean they don't say "Starring ******". That's the logic my mind follows anyways...

Ah, sorry, Raihor, I was directly my comment more towards Flight. The movies in production are the ones he can't say too much about.
I would think he could say the titles of the completed films, if there are any. I'm not sure if any of the scripts he's worked on have made it past the production stage.

Yeah, nothing thus far has actually made it to the screen. I'd tell you if they did!
One was Nursery, which is still alive if only very, very faintly. The other one was an adaptation of Alan Garner's The Owl Service, which the Brits on the boards might know - it was a children's classic in my parents' day, but I don't know how far it travelled outside of Britain cos all the dialogue is written in a sort of Welsh vernacular. Me & Mike Radford shopped it around for a bit but despite its status as a fixture of children's lit nobody seemed to want to make it as a film.
However, the film rights to Malice have been snapped up so we'll be doing our bestest to get that made over the next 18 months or so!

I recall thinking that it was quite strange, but that's about it. It was a long time ago... Exciting news about Malice!

I remember The Owl Service! I read it when I was too young I think and got really creeped out. And the front cover was just scary...
Wheee, when (ha) I'm a bajillionaire I'll give you the money to make all your books into films >D

And, question; is it weird switching from writing novels to scripts? I've tried and still am trying to get the hang of having to cut out so much description and direction and all when I'm attempting scripts. And, on that same point, which do you prefer? And, on a completely different note, if you spend a day with one charater from any book ever written, who would it be? Just because I'm on a role with therse random questions, too, my sister asked me this one and it was pretty interesting, though I still haven't thought of an answer; If you could attend any past event (as just a spectator with no effect on the event), which would it be?
