Shadowslayer, could you at least try to spell people's names properly? You will have seen them mere seconds before typing your reply, there's really no excuse.

Hay Chris, I’m rereading Broken Sky and I’ve noticed for the first time that it’s written in third person omniscient. Did you do that on purpose, or is it POV errors.
I know that it took me several attempts at writting a novel before I got the third person limited down.

@ Cubed: what's wrong with third person omniscient? Or rather, why is it questionable that Chris wrote BS in that?

"Wrote BS in that?"
I'm not sure by what you mean by this, but the reason I ask is because it is ten times harder to write omniscient than it is to write limited. That's the reason I asked.
Broken Sky uses the same format in POV that Dune had. That being that every other paragraph is in a different POV (usually one of the twins). It took Frank Herbert six years to write Dune. That's why I asked.

By 'BS' she just means Broken Sky. We usually abbreviate it to BSky though.
I don't know if it's unusual, but I've always found 3rd person omniscient easier to write and to read. It means you can see each character's motivation better. Or if you're writing and you want to show what they're thinking you don't have to find a way for your main character to find out, you can just show it from their POV for a while.
Also, I don't think it took Frank Herbert 6 years to write Dune just because he wrote it in 3rd person omniscient.

I would think BSky was written in third person on purpose. If it was just written from Ryushi's view point, for example, half of act 2 wouldn't have happened (the Koth Taraan and the attack on Base Usido and etc). The POV needed to switch through multiple characters to get the full story.
I find both 1st person and 3rd person easy to write in (and easy to read), I think it's just dependent on the characters as to whether which perspective to use. For a challenge, try 2nd person - seriously hard to write in.

Second person makes me think of those Give Yourself Goosebumps books. I used to love those when I was younger, even though I did normally die after about five pages and had to keep restarting.

Man, 2nd person is hard...I've tried it before, but didn't get very far. Usually, I write in first person. I've never really written 3rd person omniscient before though. I should try that sometime.

Chris, I have a question regarding Haunting of Alaizabel Cray. I was wondering if you could inform me about Bloodybones. After reading the books, I found it unfortunate that there was like, no information on them. Personally, I love Rawhead, and would like to learn more about his "partner." So yeah, I'd greatly appreciate it if you told us. I'd love to know. :]

Whaha, this thread had been dead for a fair while.
Not sure if this is incorrect information, but when I checked the Amazon.co.uk page on Retribution Falls: Tales of the Ketty Jay (WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD MORE OF THIS...?!?) in the 'about the author' paragraph it said (and I quote): 'He is currently working on two movies with a top Hollywood director.' Two? Two? TWO?!? Have I been living under a stone recently? Has Amazon got it wrong, because last time I checked there was only one film. Or (please please please) is there another..?

So...say you're writing one dastardly villain with some super anti-social tendencies (ala Stitch-face,), and you've enjoyed creating it and working out what he does with his time...do you ever worry about it affecting you? Like, waking up and having the urge to knife someone just because (not from personal experience, although the thought of it coming from somewhere within me has occurred to me several times )? With that aside, do you have any advice for a young, aspiring author? I'm 15, and I don't know very much else I'd rather do and I'm trying to prepare for it as much as possible.

Well, I admit I'm not a published author, nor do I have a loyal fan base. But I do know quite a bit about writing and the industry... if you want I'd be happy to impart some advice on to you... only if want. Righto, I hear an angry mob coming my way, brandishing pitchforks and torches .
