I stumbled upon TBP series a few months ago and was completely blown away by the trilogy. I had long tired of Terry Brooks' milking the Shanarra series, and welcomed a change.
To be honest I literally stumbled upon the book by accident. Living abroad there are very few decent English language books to choose from, and The Weavers was a book that I bought because there wasn't much else. I have got to say the title and cover didn't really appeal to me, but I read the comments on the back of the book and bought it, got home read the reviews on Amazon and promptly ordered the other two which I collected on a trip back to UK subsequently.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I am definitely a fan of TBP, but I cannot (yet) say that i am a fan of Wooding as I have not actually read anything else by him.
I am a little older than i assume most of the participants on this board to be and I am not really interested in Young Adult fiction.
But I can't realy find any information about which of Chris' many books are Adult fiction and which are Young Adult.
THE FADE I understand is Adult (and I have ordered it on amazon) but could someone tell me which other of his titles is also Adult fiction. His official web áge does not specify.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Alex

Welcome to the forum. None of his other books so far are adult fiction. I know he does have more on the way...but I guess that doesn't really help. Sorry!

The Fade's pretty much the only adult novel, though it felt like young adult to me. But maybe that's because I mostly read adult novels now... also a little older than most here.
Welcome!

He said that was the first thing he read.
Chris said you can tell by the publisher; Gollcanz do his adult fiction.

Thanks all for the help. So after having a look around am I right in assuming that the only other Adult Fiction book at present is THE FADE? Can't seem to find anything else on Gollancz.

The Fade is the only other at the moment, but I think he has another in the works. You could give one of the Young Adult ones a once-over though, they're not terribly childish or anything. They're all out in paperback too so it wouldn't be too expensive if you don't have a library near you.

I agree. I'm 22 myself, and quite a bit out of the YA genre, but I still get something out of his books with each reading. The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray was an incredible book. It didn't contain any sex like TBP, but in some ways, it's just as Adult as that. To be honest, I would really recommend that one, even if you think it's too young for you.
But if you liked TBP for some other reason than the story itself, or the characters, or the setting, Wooding hasn't really written another one quite like it. The Fade isn't even quite as "Adult" as TBP, in my opinion at least.
Also, he has 2 more books (hopefully) coming out in 2009. But I can't remember now if he said they were going to be YA, but I think I remember him mentioning that it was the begining of another triology of books. But...I may be wrong. >_<

Harry Potter probably borders the line between adult and YA... the main characters are mostly teenagers and for the bulk of it, it's set in school, both of which would usually be marketed towards YA. But as the story goes on, it becomes distinctly more adult, which is probably why is appeals to both young adults and adults.
I just buy novels that interest me - I don't care if it's labelled YA or adult, if I only went by labels I'd probably be missing out on a lot of good books either side.
It's not just the omission of descriptive sex scenes that make a YA book... that would be like stating young adults don't have sex. If the scenes are in a YA book, they're simply written in another way. When it comes to Chris' books, if you were to put The Fade and Broken Sky side-by-side, it becomes obvious which one's adult and which one's YA. For the most part, the Fade is set around adult characters; for the most part, Broken Sky is set around young adults. The topics aren't really defining in which ones are adult or YA, but it's more the way the topic is written and style of writing.

Welcome to the forum! I am glad you joined! Like everyone else already pointed out (sorry, I am late XD), thus far TBP and The Fade are the only Adult books. But only because his other books are labelled Young Adult doesn´t mean they aren´t enjoyable and exciting. I recommend The Haunting. Which I always do, it seems. But it´s nicely creepy and dark. I don´t think you can go wrong with reading that. Oh, lest I forget: Have some welcome-tea or welcome-coffee. You choose. :]
