I still stick to the animated series idea. Like Avatar... *coughs* There´d be enough videos to make a good anime music video with! The 3D-idea... I dunno. The characters´d have to look rather realistic and I dunno whether I´d like that. So~ animation all the way!

I pretty much HATE all computer animated movies...it's such a fake form of art. I like the classics up to Monster's Inc. then they all got so OLD and BORING

Still very much enjoyed Shrek I and II...
But it´s true. The good old-fashioned animated movies are wonderful~ And no amount of CG can copy this kind of atmosphere. :>

Anime. I'd love it to be an anime, no question. An animated film would be twice as nice. But... If it was produced in Europe, I'd go for Sav! The World to produce it. Japan, I'd like BONES to do it. They do such high-quality work. Or Kyoto Animation's series are quite nice as well. For a film if it was picked by Studio Ghibli... Well. But I don't know any American/Canadian companies that might pick it up. As for voice actors... I don't know. I don't want them picked by Disney. And I want accent-free voices. Too many great shows or films are ruined by stereotypical accents. But the only ones I'd be able to give any choice on would be Japanese ones.

You need a middle class British accent, feel free to drag me into it.
Or some kind of Irishperson. My sister's impressed with that accent. Or the slightly mad Eastern European...

I'm another vote for the animated series idea above any other possibility! XD I just saw the Japanese Alaizabel Cray cover over at the Chris Wooding livejournal community (which I've also neglected >_< *thwaps self* Bad fangirl!), and read the posts here, and how much would it win for a real Japanese anime to be made of Broken Sky? Especially if it was produced by Kyoto Animation, I'd seriously think I was dreaming if that was ever announced (I'm still super-happy over The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, hence why I pick Kyoto above any other! XD). I just can't see the special effects of a live-action film or series being good enough, or accurate enough. TV would have too low a budget to properly pull off wyverns, golems, keriags, the koth taraan and the jachyra; one film would be too rushed; three films... if three films with a reasonable budget could be commissioned, then that would have the potential to be cool, but book-to-film adaptions have not had a good track record in my experience! And just imagine how wrong the casting could go... I mean... they could cast Lindsey Lohan as Kia or something! The book series was inspired by anime, so if it could become a real anime, that would be the ultimate in awesomeness- and not wholly unlikely; they're releasing an anime based on a Western book series on Japanese tv at the moment (or will be soon; I know that the trailer is out!), what was it called... Deltora Quest. So there's definitely hope, for the optimists like me! XD Otherwise, a cartoon series would also be great. (And cheaper to buy on DVD than an anime...! Though without the advantage of having a choice of audio-tracks if the English-speaking voice-actor choice is too bad!)

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! >_< It was the only really bad casting idea that occured to me, and... I had to share my pain!

Johnny Depp as Takami!
He's good at complex, slightly mad characters.

I'd go with the cartoon series idea; I honestly don't think Broken Sky could translate to live-action, the character design is too outlandish for one thing. Can you imagine trying to make a convincing Kirin or Jachyra in live-action? Nah, too much CG would be needed. Celebrity voices would have to be carefully avoided; they ruin the suspension of disbelief for too many people. The last thing you want is to be jerked back to the real world by the thought of 'is that voice familiar or is it just me?'.
If it could be done like Avatar that would actually be very cool. I don't know of any other American cartoon that takes such care over its authenticity.
Much as I hate to disagree with Kirina (guess who my friend!) I wouldn't trust it to be made into a real Japanese anime. Quite apart from how galling it would be for it to have to be Japanese, there would be a problem with dubs. Consider: we have in the books lots of diologue that is already good for a cartoon, this great diologue would of course be put into Japanese, then the english dub would have to cut and rearrange the original to make it fit with the lip-flaps. So many of the lines that would be perfect on screen would have to be altered.

A lot of English-speaking artists are drawing manga now (the one I read makes "Fool's Gold") and some of them are pretty good...so it could probably be made into anime style without the crazy dubbing stuffs.
Maybe when I'm 30 I'll make it into an anime...>_> That'd actually be kinda fun~
