No, not "find" as in "I find it to be boring". I mean "find" as in... "stumble upon" ;D
I stood in a book/magazin store in a local train station, looking to pick up something for the train ride. I do that very intuitively, just grab something I "feel comfy with" and buy that.
My latest "finding" was "The Skein of Lament". I read one quarter of the book befaore I realised it was the third part of a trilogy. Oh, that's where all the action comes from, then! It's really due to Chris' writing skills that it didn't leave me utterly confused.
Anyway, I decided the complete trilogy was worth a try, put the book down and ordered part one and two off amazon to start over. And I don't regret it.

Skein is actually the second part. The third one is Ascendancy Veil. Difficult word. I´ll never get it right.
Well, my story of finding TBP is not that interesting. I was a total Wooding-fan back then and well, it was just natural to buy allll his books. My wallet died due to malnutrition.
I really enjoyed the trilogy. It felt so, well, dramatic and end-of-the-world-like. The weavers, I liked them very much. *laughs* They are such wonderful foes. Really! D: And you can dress as Weavers for Halloween...

As for me, after being hooked by Broken Sky and Haunting, I bought it when I saw the author's name. After that I started paying attention to Chris' site, and learning the release dates.
The next two I got on release day before they were on the shelves because I bugged people to get them out of storage for me ^_^

I never get the titles right. Of course I read the German versions (although I do want to read the original at some point as well now) and the German titles are a bit confusing. Book 1: "Die Weber von Saramyr", translated "The Weavers of Saramyr" (So far, so good) Book 2: "Das Gambit der Kaiserin", translated "The Empresses Gambit" (Knowing the book now, I can't make any sense of that) Book 3: "Der Schleier der Erleuchtung", translated "The Veil of Enlightenment" (Okay, not that far off I suppose) Just a bit of interesting information (or so I think) and the reason why I mess them up

It is sad but true. The translations often cause hysteric cursing on my part. [The worst translation still being Alaizabel Cray where no grammar existed. Or sense, that is.]
And yes, I was slightly confuzzled with this "Gambit der Kaiserin"-thing.
Looking forward to Storm Thief-translation: Hopefully not Sturmtief...
That was such a bad pun. I should be thrown into the dungeons.

Well, being a fan of most of Chris's books, I decided to tackle this one next. But, having no access to a credit card, I had no choice but to look for it at the library. I persuaded them to look into getting the first one. They did, but it took a LONG time (which made me a grumpy person while at that library until it came in). I'll have to re-read the first book again before going on to 2 and 3. I don't remember much from it and even after finishing it, I was still really confused with a lot of it. I'm sure it's just one of those books that has so much in it that it takes more than one read to really get it all.

The actual translation I read was good, but the titles were frustrating. You wanna know what the Dutch ones were? 1) De Heksenmeesters van Saramyr ('The Witchmasters of Saramyr') 2) Geheimen van Saramyr ('Secrets of Saramyr') 3) Zusters van Saramyr ('Sisters of Saramyr') (They didn't even make the 'De' in front of Heksenmeesters, Geheimen and Zusters consistent! ) And to make it all even more difficult to remember, on the front cover, 'De Heksenmeesters van Saramyr' is printed in big fat letters, even in parts 2 and 3, with the actual title of the volume printed in tiny print at the bottem, where it almost disappears behind the library's sticker. That would make one think the series is called 'De Heksenmeesters van Saramyr', right? But no; the name of the actual *trilogy* is 'De Wevers van Saramyr', or 'The Weavers of Saramyr'. @_@ Con-fu-sing!

Yeah, very annoying for someone who likes things to be orderly and consistent.
(<-- virgo)
But anyway, I knod of like "Secrets of Saramyr" and "Sisters of Saramyr" - I have a thing for alliterations... they're... kinda nice.

What´s the translation for Aberrant? So that's what they're originally called! I read them as 'afwijkenden', which literally means 'deviations/differents/aberrants'. Wauw. For a moment there, I thought 'aberrant' was a made-up word. Yeah, very annoying for someone who likes things to be orderly and consistent. (<-- virgo) Same here. *is herself a virgo*

I'd been into Chris's books for a while when I read about the Braided Path books. I didn't bother at the time, but I'm not sure why. It was probably after seeing that there was three books because I didn't have much money back then.
Then last year I was on Amazon and I noticed that the Braided Path was coming out in a bumper sized book, the day after my birthday. So, I waited impatiently, and was rather sad that it wouldn't arrive in time for me going on holiday. But then after my holiday I ordered it off Play and read it in every free minute that I had. Before I'd even got to the end of the first book, I'd decided it was quite easily the best book I ever read (knocking Poison and The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray off the top spot)
I like the looks people give me when I carry that around and read it, just because of the size of it. I took it on my holiday last month. Everyone else by the pool had litle novels that lasted them the whole week, I had a 900-and-odd paged monster that I finished within a couple of days. ;D

Sorry about the double post, but that message ^ was from me. The forum must have logged me off sooner than I intended it to and then I didn't realise. I did wonder why the quick reply box wasn't there ...
