I hadn't seen a Chris Wooding book for ages. Broken Sky had long since dried up (by that i mean i'd finished reading it a million years ago) and I'd gone through the "teen" books in a matter of seconds.
Then I was wandering through Waterstones with my Ma, and my eyes catch this cover of a fantasy book with a cool plain white mask on it. "Ooh," thinks I, "masks rock!"
Then I noticed the author of said book. I'm sure my mother was very embarrassed by my ensuing outburst of fangirlishness.
Of course, it took me until Ascendancy Veil was practically out to finish it and then Skein of Lament, but, yeah.

I took my sweet time before picking up the books. After reading Poison (in maybe 2006?) I was a total Wooding fan, so I was looking for his other works. Storm Thief came out , and I picked it up. Unfortunately, it ended up being my least fav of his books (but still good ^_^), so I was a little leery about TBP. My fiancee got the entire series and read it within 2 days, almost. She said it was better than Storm Thief, but not as good as Haunting or Poison. And then it was X-Mas and I somehow managed to find Crashing and Kerosene so I bought those for my fiancee, and read them, and loved them. And in between then and June, I would occassionally ask my fiancee about TBP, but her opinion didn't really sing the praises. So, it wasn't until I started work here and I started bringing books in to have something to do during lunch. I reread Haunting, and when I finished it, I was really upset because I had no other books to read! So, luckily, my mom went to the bookstore, and I made her buy me the first book. ^_^
Wow, that was really long. Sorry. I ramble in the mornings. >_<

I went to Borders one day b/c I remembered the name of Broken Sky's author after 6 years and The Braided Path was on the list as "order", so I passed over it until I had read Poison and Storm Thief.

I'm yet to buy them... I do see them when I go to Borders though, but I have a tendency to head straight for the manga section (like I did yesterday).
I will get around to reading them eventually, but at the moment I'm in the middle of rereading the first out of three books, a manga series, I'm picking up a free new novel I've won, and then I've got a list of about three million other books to buy.

1) De Heksenmeesters van Saramyr ('The Witchmasters of Saramyr') OMG, that's brilliant! I'm now kind of disappointed that the Weaver's aren't called Witchmasters. The story of my discovery of TBP is pretty boring really. After a long while of not having read any Chris Wooding, I chanced upon his website, and rediscovered him, ordered the book on amazon, and have never looked back

I think Weavers is much more creative and fitting than Witchmasters (bore!)

Well, yeah, it makes more sense in relation to the book, but witchmasters is a fun word

I had previously loved Chris's broken sky Trilogy as I read it in the prime of my anime obsession (thats over now thank god!) I still love them today. I was actualy on a road trip cross country wehn my boyfriend stopped at a bookstore while I was sleeping cause I was annoying him on the road since I had nothing to do... He picked up the biggest book he could find that looked interesting and it just happened to be an omnibus edition of TBP I squeeled when I saw the authour

I actually picked the first book up at the library when I was quite a bit younger (must have been when they were first out). No idea how - they were probably categorized wrong and put in young teen or something. But eh, I lost interest quickly because my simple, very young teen mind couldn't cope with the big words. Or something.
Then years later my friend lent me HoAC to read, I loved it and hunted down more of Chris' books. And when I read The Braided Path I suddenly realised it was actually re-reading. Huh. I bet you didn't want to know that. ::snore snore::
