So yeah, just finished Malice! ;D Just got it today and I raced through it like a madman! And it was amazing. The use of the comic along with it worked great! Two of my favourite things mixed into one. The characters, plot, setting and everything just went together so well, it just made me want to keep reading on! Think thats why i'm finished in a day And, the cover was so different and cool. So another great Chris Wooding book! As usual. Can't wait for HAVOK. One thing though is that I would rather have seen more comic. But yeah, good stuff EDIT: I also really liked the hypnotism part's of the book because that's something im quite interested in too! Me and my odd hobbies. aha. but yeah those were really cool parts of the book. ;D

Yes, the comic was nicely put in, and I agree that more would have been nicer (that is, more book in general, not more comic and less writing). It felt a bit... strange reading the literature after the comic. I kept thinking the characters were in separate books or something and when one led straight to the other I got confused. But it was a good sort of confused. I like that sort of confused.
I would have liked to see perhaps some of the other characters, but as the comic only showed what was happening in Malice I guess unless Mr. Creepy Scratch (God he's creepy) went to Malice we won't be seeing him anytime soon.
In fact the one part I'm not too keen on is the hypnotist part. Dunno... I'm a little skeptical on that sort of thing and I guess in their original world it's a little too fanciful for me.
I would love to see more of Malice. I mean, when Justin was talking about the different parts (I can't remember their names or the page). Half feel like I actually want to visit Malice (of course, providing I was of the immortal-type and was properly equipped with weapons, weapon training, food, pleasant company etc etc). Hell, Malice isn't one bit as scary as Mr. Creepy Scratch here in our world.

Ahh, actually, the comic part bugged me. I didn't care for the art and I couldn't tell what was going on in the pictures because it was too stylized. Now, the style was wonderful for Tall Jake...perfect, even. But the rest of the time, I had to re-read the comic parts at least twice to know what happened. Especially during the fight with Vincent and the Time Keeper. >_>

Flight, I agree with you there. Mr. Scratch was quite scary.. no wait, very scary. aha. And zemira, although I liked the comic parts I did get quite confused at the part with Vincent and the Time Keeper fighting. :/ But the comic parts were still good!

I finished it. ;_; Got it on Thursday and read till well past midnight and had to restrain myself from reading it all in one go. Actually, I had told myself that this time I would take my time reading it. But... you know how it is. The chapters were so short you always thought "Aw, okay, one more." I liked the comic-part. At first, I wondered why the comic pages stopped after only a small story arc but later on it was explained that there are never real chapters. Just glimpses as Grendel works that way so the explaination worked fine. Oh dear... I loved the book. It was so wicked and atmospheric. And there is so much more to explore! I think I like it so much because there is so little known about this world. There could be anything lurking there and everything is shrouded in mystery. Even its history is murky and mostly unknown. With TBP and Haunting and even BSky you had peeps who explained most of the stuff that they came across. But in Malice most of the characters just don't know what they are dealing with. Which is also why I was so surprised when Justin could explain something concerning the big mort-beast. I am babbling but I am way too excited now for anything more coherent. xD

Finished it last night! Am I the only one who liked the comic's art? well I liked the vistas. And how the conductor was drawn. And Kady (she looked just like in my mind's eye!). But some of the characters (like that irish dude whose name escapes me) didn't look too great. I wish there was more comic in there too. Can't wait 'till Havok!

Ticked conductors make me nervous anyway; I'd be petrified of him/her/it
