Diana Wynn Jones FTW. Howl's moving Castle was so good and "show not tell" I also had a heart-attack from happy.

My favourite author is Catherine Fisher. It's a shame that so few people have heard of her, she's really very good! I think her best work is the Book of the Crow series, man I love those books, I read them over and over again! Catherine Fisher is the author with the most books on my bookshelf and I have made it my quest to buy all of her books, even the ones that are really hard to find

Some of Anne Rice's vampire books are ok, Interview with a Vampire is great and Lestat is a great anti hero. The books tend to get repetitive and I won't fogive her for the huge anti clmiax in Queen of the Damned. It made it feel like a waste of time reading it.
I hate Eddings and Robert Jordan, they demonstrate the bad flaws in fantasy perfcetly.
I recommend Guy Gavriel Kay, Phillip K. Dick (good sci fi), Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allen Poe (has some very creepy stories), Haruki Murakami is also really good (his books are surreal though he is a bit of an aquired taste). Kafka I enjoy as well as classical authors like Daniel Defoe. Tolkien is ok but over rated and I hate his style of writing.

I could go check right now... *waltzes off to bedroom* EDIT: Yep, that was her. Awesome book (along with the other two in that trilogy, of course).

Yay, I've found a fan! Seriously, I don't know anyone else who has read her books! And yes, she wrote those books, but they were renamed when released in the US, so my copies have different names to yours!

What're your copies titled? Hmmm...let's see, The Oracle, The Archon, The Scarab. Meh, these titles are shorter than the American ones...still, I liked this series a lot, but it was not as good as some of her other work

I think I've read The Oracle!
About priestesses and a golden bowl with a scorpion in? I loved it.

Strange, I thought I had a post on here... -must be going mad-
Anyway, my absolute favourite writers apart from Chris are Terry Pratchett and Ursula Vernon. (though she's bad about finishing stories or posting the ending online. |:< ) To be honest, Vernon's style is very close to Pratchett's, but has more crack, less social commentary and more jokes at the expense of accountants.
I love the Hermux Tantamoq series by Michael Hoeye, so he counts. I'll also read anything by Ben Elton (I loved Dead Famous) and Neil Gaiman.
I've got an embarrasingly large Redwall collection that I just can't get rid of, a few Debi Gliori books, so she counts, definitely...
Hmm, a lot of manga but that's a given... In particular, I like the English translations of Yun Kouga's work. Either the translators have a way with words or she does, but I've never read manga like it.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. I'll be hunting high and low for a copy of Havemercy by Jaida Jones and Dani Bennett when it's released, and they're amazing so they count.

My favourite author, besides Wooding is Stephenie Meyer. OMG!!!! I also like P.D. James' Children of Men. I like Sci-Fi/fantasy the most. There are the occasional books that don't fall into that category, but for the most part, I read nerdy stuff.

I'm such a child, I like Eoin Colfer and Lemony Snicket. Most other authors I just like one of their books and not the others, or a particuler series.
