It says so on the tin.
What are your favourite tv-shows and why? Decided to make a thread about this as I am curious as to what everyone's watching.

I don't watch much TV because at university I don't have one, but at home I watch a lot of documentaries. Other than that I like Jonathan Creek, Doctor Who, Criminal Minds, Star Trek (any series) and cartoons like As Told By Ginger and Ruby Gloom.

I am sort of elitist with my TV shows.
Best show ever= Firefly, for reasons I've probably mentioned elsewhere. Other show I love is The IT Crowd because it is one of the only shows that shares my random sense of humour. And then topical quiz comedy shows like Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week and my personal favourite, Never Mind the Buzzc0cks (word censor makes it turn into 'thingy' if I put a regular o in. Oh, that word censor really has a dirty mind XD). I can't stand soaps and other popular TV shows... And REALITY TV MUST BURN! Things like Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing are like poison to me, and soaps like Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Corrination Street and so on are also. D*mn popular TV shows! Rar!
My, that was a good rant.

cartoons like As Told By GingerOh, I love As Told By Ginger! I wish it was available on DVD. I love Courage the Cowardly Dog too. I think that may be on DVD somewhere but I'll have to check. Other favourite cartoons are The Simpsons, Futurama, Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, Scooby Doo (well, the old ones at least), Cow and Chicken and Ed, Edd & Eddy. As for television shows... I think half of my favourites have finished. I like Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, Ugly Betty, The Sunday Night Project, My Name Is Earl, Prison Break, Friends (finished), 21 Jump Street (finished), Spaced (finished), Bad Girls (finished), Will and Grace (finished)... I think that's it. Plus I'll watch things like Fawlty Towers or Blackadder on occasions. They're hilarious. That makes it look like I watch lots of television, but I really don't. Four of the six that are still airing don't have any new episodes on English television right now, grr! I'll watch a lot of different things but, like Raihor, I'm not much of a reality TV or soap fan. Quite the opposite, in fact. ;D I don't know why I like the shows I do. Sometimes something can sound really good but simply not hold my interest ( Heroes, for example) and at other times it doesn't sound appealing to me but I end up catching a couple of episodes and falling in love ( Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty are the two main ones that has happened with).

But unlike me, Becca, you like popular TV shows like Scrubs, Prison Break, Ugly Betty and so on. Only one I like on that list is Friends! It's so silly.
I also watch old comedy a lot: Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, The Thin Blue Line, others that I can't think of right now.
I watch Heroes with my parents (my sister is very sensitive, even if 20). I much prefer the first series though, I'm really quite bored with the new series. Ah well...

Hmm... I like crime shows. Like Criminal Minds and CSI. On top of that I'm a fantasy junkie so really anything with any sort of interesting folklore can get me to sit down and watch it. And, of course, The Office, which is getting better again! ;D I guess I don't really watch all that much TV, though...
Bleh, and I agree; reality TV should be thrown into an extremely desolate and miserable hole somwhere and buried forever so it can never again reach our homes.

The only reality TV I like is The Amazing Race and The Apprentice (except for the Los Angeles season), the first one is because I'd love to do it myself and the second one because the peope amuse me.
As for other TV shows:
The Simpsons Dexter House The Office, US version mainly but UK version is also good The IT Crowd Kath and Kim - the Australian version (I did watch the American version and it was OK... but eh. Their Kath and Kim are not losers enough)
All of it but The Simpsons is downloaded, so I rarely watch any actual television.

I don't have television at my apartment so I don't really watch much anymore, except for buying DVD sets.
I particularly enjoy How I Met Your Mother, House, Futurama (though mostly now I'm watching the movies), Law and Order (most incarnations, though I won't watch any of the first show if it is after Jerry Orbach died), Monk, Psych, and I guess that's it. I'll watch Scrubs sometimes, but I started watching when I learned that a Broadway actress was in an episode. There's more than enough shows about rude doctors, and House is enough for me. ^_^

Let's see, my favorite TV shows... I'm a big BIG fan of Supernatural. I also like Criminal Minds, Gilmore Girls, Psych, The Sara Conner Chronicles, and Heroes. I used to watch Joan of Arcadia, and Invasion, but they got canceled. Um, old shows that I used to be obsessed with are Big Wolf on Campus, All That, Keenan and Kel, and Zack Files.
Cartoons: As told By Ginger; KaBlam; Aahh! Real Monsters!; Hey Arnold!; The Angry Beavers; The Wild Thornberry's; Invader Zim; Chalk Zone; Danny Phantom; Avatar: The Last Airbender; Doug; Mike, Lu, and Og; Courage the Cowardly Dog; Johnny Bravo; Dextar's Laboratory; and Ben 10
There's too much anime to mention here, and it's a lot of TV, but it's also drawn from the collective time span of my life. If most of these shows were still aired, I would watch them.

I totally forgot about Supernatural! I also love Avatar, The Angry Beavers and Invader Zim.
Two shows that I really wish were available on DVD here are Batman of the Future (batman Beyond to any Americans here) and Samurai Jack. Awesome, they were. Infuriatingly, they're both available in America but not in Europe!

Technically Anime aren't TV shows for me, because I can only stream them over the net. But my favourites are Wolf's Rain (Freakin' amazing!) and Ergo Proxy (but I can't find any ergo proxy streams... I got up to episode 11 and then lost the streams ). I used to watch Naruto, but I grew out of it. And then I tried the new, more mature series but got bored. Also, I love Futurama! Just in case I didn't say that before.

I totally forgot about Supernatural! Ah! Me too! I love that show! That and Gilmore Girls, which would be my chick flick fix of choice. And House, up until these last two seasons.

I like House, but I can never catch it on. Oh, and Samari Jack is okay, but I was frickin in love with Batman Beyond. He was, like, my 2-d fangirl crush. Everyone thought I was so weird. >_< There was also another show I liked, it was about a robot and this blond chick with short hair called Roe, who found each other and started traveling together, fighting evil and all that. I can't remember what it's called though. T-T
