Yessssss~ But. Not everyone's willing to have their character beaten in a fight ya'know XD I mean, I know most of my characters are free for losing gracefully, but in my experience... not many roleplayers enjoy the whole 'My Character's Shame is My Shame' thing XD At least, that's what I've seen D8 Zemi, I think you'd be interesting to RP with But yes. Tragic backstories are getting so old. I don't mind occasional ones... but honestly not EVERYONE is going to have those tragic stories D< Most of my characters have siblings ;o WAY TO BREAK THE MOULD, LUMA! *cough* I have seen too many perfectly distressed only-children typed characters out there D8

Yeah, I can see how characters with really tragic backgrounds would get old fast. When I'm writing stories, I prefer characters to have a fairly "normal" background with just a tiny bit of drama because that's the way life is for most people. I think I've only ever made one or two characters have very tragic backgrounds. I still don't quite undertsand the whole fighting thing. Will there be fighting in the Ashes and Dust RP? If so, I'll have to stand back as I don't have a clue what to do. My character will be a pacifist.

I like characters with very mysterious backgrounds. Especially the ones where you don't really know anything about their past, but it all unfolds into the story.

I like those too, ToG, but most moderators won't allow those. They want every detail mapped out beforehand. Which also annoys me because my character could change drastically depending on what happens, but then I'd get in trouble for not staying in character. >_< Sigh.

Argh, that would annoy the life out of me. I love when a character starts out one way then changes; if they stay the same all the time, even when dramatic events are taking place, then they just don't seem real.

Exactly. That's why I don't like planning characters out to every tiny detail, because they'll end up changing by the end anyways. I mean, if a dramatic event happened to them as a child, sure, talk about it, but I don't need to hear about the weather for that day and how many bugs were around. >_>

Hehe.
I'm very easily traumatised by bugs. A bluebottle flew past me when I was on the computer and I thought it was a wasp so I ended up running into the porch and closing the door behind me. It took me about fifteen minutes to waft it towards an open window with a rolled up piece of paper. I didn't want to touch it.
I like spiders though, because they're fun to watch building their webs and don't tend to buzz right past your ear and give you a panic attack.

It really depends on the size of the bug for me. Also, my friend Sean has huge insectafobia (sp?), so he is always complaining about bugs. Just the other night it was so hot in my room I opened my window and within 10 minutes two huge flying beetle-like bugs came into my room and scared the crap out of me. God those things sound vicious.

I'm generally not scared of bugs, but I have a phobia of spiders. I'm alright if they're small, and they're high up on a wall, and don't move... but if they're big, and they move, especially towards me, I freak out.

I'd be scared of spiders if I lived in Australia though. It's fine up here in England because they're all harmless, even the massive ones.
The only spiders that I don't like are ones with really long legs and tiny bodies. They're just freaks of nature.

Ours will mostly kill you... ironically, it's the little ones that are mostly deadly, the ones that if they stay still I have no problem killing with my shoe.
Back in New Zealand (where I'm from), it's too cold for spiders. When we first moved to Australia, Mum would panic and nearly have a heart attack at the sight of spiders.
