Here´s the thing I have been thinking about for some time now. There are many book-forums online whose admins and mods organize so called book readings. They decide on a certain book and gather some people who are interested in reading it, and they read it together, online. The thread is then subdivided as follows: Part I: pages 001-058 (for example) Part II: p. 059- Et cetera... Then there´s also a General Discussion-thread for, well, all these general questions and thoughts. Now, my question is, given that this is a book-forum and given that The Fade will be published in, yay, three days, would anyone be interested in such a book-reading? We wouldn´t start soon, of course. Let´s say next month or so when every one who´s interested really owns a copy. I for one would love to do that. It can be pretty funny. People can post their hopes, fears and thoughts about the book while reading it. They can comment on the passage they just read or speculate about what could happen next. I once participated in one such reading and enjoyed it immensly. So. Is anyone interested?

I think it'd be easier just to have one discussion board. For one thing, those of us who are fairly fast readers may read the book in a day or two (I don't know how long it is, but I can read Storm Thief in about 6 hours). And even if it takes me a week or more to read this, I'll probably try to avoid this place during that time just because of the immense likelihood of spoilers. (I know several people who had HP7 spoiled for them this way, and they were MAD. Like, unbelievably.)
If you make it, I'm sure a few people will participate, but... meh. I dunno. Sorry if I come across as the resident naysayer *shrug*

Sounds good to me. Would we be doing this with The Fade, or another book? If it's The Fade, many people would have read it by the time we start this kind of discussion, so I don't know how well it would work... But I'm still game with whatever you want to do.

I've been part of a book reading on another forum, and it really didn't go so well. While it's all good and well to say 'this week, we'll only read pages x to y', if those people really want to read the book, then they're going to skip ahead and then it'll be difficult to post on previous pages without giving spoilers away. I personally read the whole book before the time allocated, and grew rather bored with the reading as the ending pages to the book weren't for weeks and weeks (this was a book that was 800 pages plus though...).
My advice is to go the same as always - everyone reads the book, and as people finish, they're going to post about it. People who haven't finished the book can do what most people do in this situation - stay away from spoilers.

Well, you´re probably right about the negative aspects. I will wait with the final decision till a few more members have stated their opinion and then I´ll see what comes of it. :] (Oh, but people are allowed to read the book as fast as they want to. I wouldn´t do it the "This week it´s only pages - ."-way; that would be cruel... XD)

It sounds like fun, but again, I don't have much free time to read. I really only can read what I want at my lunch break at work. So, for 30 min, 3 days a week. >_<
I mean, I do like the idea of spitballing ideas around with people who are in about the same place as me, but I wouldn't be able to because of my schedule. >_< That, and I'm incredibly impatient, and you may unknowingly stop a reading point at a cliffhanger and everyone will go nuts and read ahead. :-p
So, basically, I like the idea, but I can't participate right now. >_<

Maybe instead of having "page: 30-99" and suff like that we could have different topics about different aspects of the book? Like characters, plot, predictions, things you didn't like, the ending, etc... That might be better (I really have no idea XP), but spoilers would be everywhere...
Have you seen those spoiler-tag things they have at the Narutofan forums? I've never used them myself, but they're really great at hiding spoiler-ridden text.

Well, I guess the book reading is off. :] Don´t forget to buy it tomorrow. Although I am pretty sure you won´t. I will try to get my copy, too, though it could be difficult what with me lacking a mailbox-name-tag and all. Anyhow~ see you around, eh?
