OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!...I finished the book this weekend and absolutely LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! It was amazing! I havn't read a fantasy book that kept that enterested all f-ing day long. I literally did not book the book down this weekend untill I finsished it. My mom wanted to kill me though, because I refused to come out of my room unless there was a damn good reason. Anyway, here is part of my review:
All together the book was perfect, but when you break it down and take a closer look it...IS STILL PERFECT! As usuall, CW added discriptions that truely made it feel like I was there. I could have sworn that I wash flying dragons right beside Kia and Ryushi. The scenerary he placed seemed absolutly beautiful, (I wish that place was real), and the character development was amazing. Especially Ryushi, he sounded kinda cute...
*clears throat embarasdely*
anyway, all in all, I loved the book and can not wait to get the next one.

I am happy to read you liked it! It is amazing. Simply amazing. If you think about all these tiny bits there are you slowly realize that this series has really, really much! I loved the way the world "worked" with the Spirit Stones and all the other parts. I had finished it in one or two days. I cannot really remember. But when I had finished I realized I needed the other books. I didn´t really expect anything as I didn´t think about it back then. I bought the first book because I wanted to give it a try. And it was only a matter of pages when I knew I needed the other books as well. XD Really amazing job! Also the characters! Aww~ they are so cute! All of them. *cuddels Macaan*
Yeees~ <3 Look out for the other books. Part six is amazing! XD

Err... okay.
But maybe it´s just my fascination with evildoers. I like watching them, doing all their evil plotting and all the stuff the heros don´t really appreciate. Ryushi? He even gets cooler! *cheer* Still... Ryushi´s not my type of man. XD

Well, you and I are two different people, so I guess I can forgive your taste in someone other than someone as hot as Ryushi. I mainly fell for his valiant frame of mind, and he's not afraid to show his emtions. Plus, from the discription, he does seem pretty cute looking, but thats's just my dirty mind talking. Wait... did you say that he gets even cooler?!?!?!?!?
*Jumps for joy*
Damn, now I realy can't wait untill the next book shows up in the mail, (I had to order a copy, they didn't have it at my local library)
*waits excitedly at the mail box* *looks at watch*
DAMNIT!!!!!!! It better get here SOON!!!!!!!!

I think his early hairstyle is better. My favourite picture of Ryushi, and Kia, is the one in the front of all the books, where they have their weapons drawn and you've got the circle behind them. I loved book 1, I think it's a really good opening, and I was convinced that Kia was a proper enemy right until they start messing about! And the ending was equally good. I love Elani, her mixture of maturity and immaturity just works so well, and feels very realistic. And Gerdi. Love Gerdi. In fact, if I had to pick one favourite character, it would be Gerdi. Though I love Ty as well. *stops herself listing every other character in the book, and subsequent books* I think the flow of action in this book, the pace and the writing tyle, were all fantastic. And the dialogue- lots of love for Chris's dialogue. He makes his quirky terms for things and new curses seem 100% natural, which some fantasy/si-fi authors just can't do, which results in you being pulled out of the world the author has created. That never happened for me in Broken Sky. And the range! In The Braided Path, he wrotew the tense drama really well, and I did really like those books, but in Broken Sky he mixed drama and humour and tragedy and action so so so impressively. The way he builds up the tension, and can still have a character make a witty remark that makes you smile or laugh, and have them fail or succeed in breaking that tension... yeah, I know, I'm preaching to the choir here, but sometimes it just feels really good to rave about your favourite author to people who know what you mean, ne?

@ Kirina: Hell, that´s what this forum is for. XD No honestly, BSky is an excellent blend of various Fantasy-aspects that have been remixed and changed until everything fits perfectly. The characters are wonderful. And yes, Gerdi is definitly one of my favourites as he´s got an adorable personality. X3
I need to re-read the books...

Not to go against the flow, but I really didn't like book 1 the first time I read it. For ages and ages I thought it was because to me book 1 was the tiny first third of what it now book 1 and that is a VERY short space to get into a story, but almost everyone I know who I've tried to get into Broken Sky has ground to a halt on the first book and had to skim-read until about... what was book 6 in the original format? Then they get interested and re-read the first bit.
Any theories as to why this is? Upon a second reading I loved book 1 as much as the others, but the first time round something didn't click.

I suspect the main problem was that it was indeed too short in the original format, what with it being a third of each of the current 9 books...
I think because I read a ninth of plot rather than a twenty-seventh, it engaged me more, thus kept me interested.

Yeah, they are very short. But i was instantly entranced either way. There is nothing about these books that didn't utterly grab and shcok me.

that's exactly what I thought, but since then I've had friends read the first book in the new format and they couldn't get into it at all, but liked the other 8. I wonder what it is that gives the first three sections such an "either it grabs you or it doesn't" quality...

Personally I loved book one. It has everything a fantasy novel needs! There is barely a moment in the book where you are not either immersed in action or learning more and more about your favorite character. And lets face it, all the best characters are introduced in the first book! My fave personally is Hochi! The only books I have read that comes anywhere near Broken Sky is Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. Although my true favorite book now is The Wheel of Time, I still am madly in love with Broken Sky, the original fantasy series of my heart! Robert
