The other guy originally got elected cause the guy before him stuffed it all up. In the end, the other guy made too many mistakes (employment being a big one) and had been PM for far too long... his party was so certain they were going to win the last election as well. Suckers.
The current guy got voted in mainly because he's young (younger...), argued against all of the previous PM's ideas so of course everyone agreed with him, and cause he made hilarious interviews on rock radio stations (at least, that's why the younger people voted him in).
I've never seen a cane toad! I live in a city... I see snakes on a regular basis though, but no cane toads. I don't know if we even have the infestation anymore, no one talks about it over here (global warming is more important... within the last month, my state has had severe flooding, followed by a heat wave).

I'm not affected by global warming much where I live. If anything, we've gotten more snow.

We're right under the hole in the ozone layer, so we cop it the worst.

As global warming progresses it's entirely possible that Britain will get a lot colder. The ice-caps will probably drown the gulf stream if they melt too far, which will put us down to about the same temperature as Canada.
I don't know if cane toads are considered a big problem anymore... I read that the big deal was native predators were eating them and getting poisoned, but were starting to develop instinctive urges not to eat them. If that's true then I guess they wouldn't be a pressing concern anymore.

I asked Mum about the cane toads - she says they're really only a problem in Queensland (way up north of the country - I'm in the south) cause they are destroying all the crops and they like the hot, moist climate, they don't cause much of a problem anywhere else though.
South's problem is the droughts.
