My favorite character would have to be Lucia, because throughout the whole book she remained the most mysterious character, even over the weavers for me. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next two books.

Hard to tell, as a lot of characters really "unfolded" in the second book.

My fav at this point (having finished the first book maybe 10 min ago ^_^) is definitely Lucia. Not sure why I like her as much as I do, but right away, from her first description, I luved her.
I'm actually more worried about the other books, lol, after so many people died in this one. Luckily, my least favorite character (Vyrrch) is dead, but I somehow can't help thinking he's going to come back...

I liked Lucia in this book as well. I quite liked Anais too, for all her failings.
Kaiku was a favourite of mine throughout the trilogy, but not as much in this book as in later ones. Not that she didn't have depth in this book, but as she begins to accept herself, and become more comfortable with her powers, she becomes a much more likable character

I like Anais in the begininning, but I really hated Durun (do you notice how I dislike most of the characters who don't like Lucia? ~_^), so I liked Anais a lot less when she started sleeping with him again. >_< I do like how human it made her, but I still liked her less because of it.

I liked Anais all the better because she's cave in at times and be so very human. I found that a lot more believable and a lot easier to relate to than most heroic protagonists in epic fantasy like that.

I liked Lucia, but I never had a firm favourite in this series, none of the characters strongly appealed to me (and the ones that did kept dying).
I liked Lucia, and I quite liked Mishani as well, just because she was a welcome break from people with troubled pasts and aberrant powers.

I remember first reading about Kaiku's Aberrancy, and even though I wasn't surprised, it was kind of like, oh good another one. Then I found out about Asara, and Cailin. And I was like, "Oh, and I suppose Tane's an Aberrant too?". Luckily he wasn't, otherwise that would have just been pathetic for the Weavers to have missed this many Aberrants especially when they all crowd together. ^_^

I thought they missed so many aberrants because the Red Sisters could fool them.

I have respect for Anais, but I think she's somewhat of a dumb@$$.

I do like how human everyone was. It's nice to not have super-humans. Even the Weavers are easily killed, if you can get to them at least.
Everyone had faults which made them that much more believable. Chris did an AMAZING job with the characters in these.

*spoiler alerts through out*
I'm probably going to get pelted by great big loafs of stale bread but I didn’t like Lucia much. She just didn’t interest me much.
My favourite character is Asara. She is not only complex but I could really identify with her. Yes she killed people, but the people she killed were due to her own survival, or because the characters she had to kill needed to die to create the situations needed to start the fight against the weavers. Asara contributed a lot to the story, and it wasn’t due to great big ideals but selfish motives which are how most humans operate.
Asara is the person who is the most lost in the series which I really felt genuine compassion for. Due to the nature of her powers, she always has to take on different roles, different peoples lives, different personalities but never her own. Her personality is very fluid, it has to be for her own survival but it’s defiantly not a healthy way to be. No wonder she doesn’t know who she really is. i also felt she had a lot of self hatred. I mean who Asara is, has been the result of other people, (more so than the average person) which a possible interpratation might be; that could make her feel humiliated, resentful to other humans. That they intentionaly and unintentionaly remake her or did remade her in other images. Her selfishness could be as a result of how people constantly exploit her. Like a certain scary sister.
All Asara wants is a child, something to have as her own. Maybe she feels that adopting the role as mother will help make her feel more concrete, more self empowered, her personality less changeable, reactant to those around her. And obviously to fill the “void” inside her.
Sorry for the ramblings

I liked Tane most. *huggles* Pity he turned out to be a plot device. But at least he was a cute plot device!

For me, it ebbs and flows between Cailin and Asara for who is my favourite, largely due to the third book, where Cailin becomes more awesome, and Asara becomes less so (and has less 'screen' time).

I would agree that Tane was pretty cool. He may have been short lived, but he was still very down to earth. Hmmm.....not much talk of Kaiku and Mishani? I think Kaiku had so much growing up to do and Mishani, for me, wasn't in the book enough for me to connect with her. They are great characters though.
