Anyone actually considered supporting Barack Obama because he's, like, a Barak or almost? And because it would be kinda cool to have one rule a country (Don't look at me, I'm not in the USA)

Anyone actually considered supporting Barack Obama because he's, like, a Barak or almost? I always thought he sounded kind of like a character from the Braided Path as well. Never thought of the whole Barak/leader of country link though!

Now I can't stop thinking of Braided Path whenever someone talks about Obama.

That Barak thing was all subliminal propaganda, of course *takes enormous kickback from the Democrats*

Yarr, we'll see whether that worked. I'm going to stay awake to watch the election. I am a curious duck. (Meaning, at 00:00 they start broadcasting the election on telly in Germany. And as Germay is six hours into the future we will know before you do! *gets shot for lame joke that won't get any better, no matter how many times I repeat it*)

Eh, no need to watch. As an American, I can tell all you foreign folks that Obama will most likely win. 1. He's got more supporters. 2. If by some fluke, he doesn't win the votes, he's got more than enough money to bribe his way into office. Sorry McCain folks. For the record, I'm not a fan of either. I'm for John Cleese's suggestion of giving America back to Britain.

First off, no one knows who has more supporters. People generally base their answer on polls. It's true that the only estimate we have is from polls and that Obama is winning "according to polls", but a very SMALL majority of voters participate in polls.
Second, I wouldn't be surprised if he did somehow bribe his way into office. That's the kind of guy I think he is.

It's not that Obama has more or less supporters, but he may have wealthier supporters to say the least. He has a lot more money to spend on his campaign than McCain does. Personally I don't know enough about either candidate's policies to make a decision.... (This is mostly because I'm not old enough to vote yet anyways.) but from what I have researched, I've been leaning more toward McCain. I think of Obama as more of a celebrity. People are voting more for ideology right now- most of the Obama supporters I've spoken with seem to have this warped idea that the guy's going to pull us out of an economic crisis overnight, and that's just not going to happen no matter who gets elected.
And, no offense Ze, but I don't want to be British, your flag makes me dizzy and you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. I hate driving enough as it is... ).)

We don't drive on the wrong side of the road, we drive on the left side of the road. We're not the only country that does y'know. I do think Obama's mostly talk, but I'd still take him over McCain, if only to avoid Sarah Palin (who frightens many people over here). What I'd really like to see is a presidential election where the campaigning wasn't prohibitively expensive so an independent candidate could have a reasonable chance.

Whoot! Obama won!
Not that I was following or anything. Was never into politics for my own country, let alone for somewhere else
(what? Who's the Prime Minister now? Gordon Brown? Who's he?)
(and to be honest, if someone drives on the correct side of the road it's the English. We were driving on the left long before you were on the right)

We were driving on the left long before you were on the right) While the rest of Europe was ALREADY driving on the right side Well, I don't think the USA's problems or politics will change overnight, but now there is at least a chance for a slow change for the better; while I think with the republicans there would have been no chance for sucha change, and even the danger of making things worse. So - I'm happy.

Eh, politics are corrupt and I don't think America will ever get itself out of the hole it's digging. And I'm American, candlelighted, though I take it as a compliment that you thought I was British.
