All good things come to an end I appreciate Chris's comments about not making the Tales of the Ketty Jay an everlasting and steadily poorer series, but oh, was I sorry to find The Ace of Skulls is the last one. It's been four novels of rip-roaring entertainment, and more reading fun than I've had for ages. Just thinking of the Tales kept bringing smiles to my face and an eagerness to get hold of the next installment. All that, and character development too! Well, it's clear that there won't be more stories of Frey and his crew, at least not directly. But I really like the rich and interesting world, and wonder if Chris might revisit it some day (preferably soon) with something new.

Yeah, I was really interested in the world the stories take place in. The glimpse we got in book 3 that dealt in passing with the history and the other continent had made me want to learn more. It's kind of sad that there won't be any more infos on the world, the country and its peoples. I don't know whether Chris will re-visit the Tales-world; maybe in a spin-off of some kind. But he's not too wild about sequels that aren't really necessary or spin-offs, I think? But never say never... after all the world didn't get hit by a giant meteor which would have made it difficult to write sequels or spin-offs. So there's that at least! Curious to see what he comes up with next.

Have to say I really enjoyed the ending, a nice bit of closure for characters that REALLY deserved it.
Loved the setting, loved the characters, but glad he hasn't milked them to death or just kept the drama cycling. Another set of people in the same universe, a la Discworld or China Meiville's books?
But I'm happy with how it is - fantastic read. Bittersweet that there's no more to come... but at least it wasn't finished with a plot twist, an explosion and a choice of 3 colours.
