It's funny how life is. So much time and attention is given to many different projects, places, and people. In the end, most of these are stored away, neglected, and forgotten. Some parts of our lives, however, remain. Not behind locked doors. Instead, these are present, in front and adored, as parents display pictures of their children at work. They are always remembered and treasured. The Crooked Lanes is one of these important aspects of my life. A great amount of my time was spent here many moons ago and, over that time, I was only positively impacted. I was accepted. I felt free to share my thoughts no matter how trivial. I met wonderful people, all of whom (though time and distance separates) I still consider friends. Such a feat was what I was in dire need of. To put it bluntly, if this community had not done and been those things for me, I would be long dead and forgotten. Alas, I have survived. Not only survived, but thrived. Now, many years and a few intermittent log-ins later, I am celebrating Christmas with my successful graduation from University with a degree in Religion & Philosophy and by reflecting on all the obstacles I've overcome getting to this point and those instrumental in keeping me on my journey. Therefore, from the depths of my heart and with the greatest sincerity I thank you. I will always remember what The Crooked Lanes has done for me. Merry Christmas, Aaron p.s.~ This doesn't mean I'm leaving or anything. I'll still log in from time to time.

I never knew that this place mattered so much to other people as it matters to me. Reading this really moved me! And I'm happy that the Crooked Lanes had and have such a positive effect on you and maybe other people as well. Congratulatons on your graduation from University! That is really great news and I wish you all the best for what comes next. And please, stay. XD I still hope that with new books, the place will become more lively again. Silver is coming out next May and the next Ketty Jay book is scheduled for the Fall I think, so maybe we'll have some new books to talk about, as well as real-life-related things, of course. Merry Christmas to you, too!!

Speaking of "what comes next"... After a couple months of pondering and another few weeks of hoop after hoop to jump though, I have some more exciting news!
I have joined the Army!!!
I was aiming for a Chaplains Assistant position so I could learn about the practical nature behind religious services for troops, but through some random turns of events I am instead on my way to becoming a Cryptologic Linguist (look it up if you need). It has been shown to me that what I learn doing this job will greater prepare me for what God has ultimately called me to do later in life. Divine intervention at work.
I leave to ship for basic training on March 24 and I don't know when I'll have any access and time to drop in. Basic is almost 10 weeks long and my specialized training could last up to 52 weeks (1 year!). THEN I'll be put on assignment God knows where. So.... I'll pop in with any and every update before I leave!
p.s.~ I WON'T HAVE TIME TO READ!!!!!!!!!!!! D':
