I'm getting ready to apply for university, but I need to write a short paper on a topic of my choosing. Because I'm going for a degree in English, I decided to do my paper on a book. And because Chris is vastly underrated here in the States, I decided I should do a paper on one of his books.
But I'm not sure what book or what topic to write about. So, I figured, why not ask all my friends here? ;D So...If you were writing a paper, which book and what topic would you use?
The essay needs to be 300-500 words which is about a page and a half. So it'll be very short (especially compared to what I'm used to). So I need to be able to state and prove my point in a small space. I also need a topic in general. I could do something somewhat vague and examine certain characters and their effect on the story (should be pretty easy, depending on the book), but that may be too vague and I could write myself in circles and end up not saying anything.
But at the same time, I can't do anything too detailed because then I wouldn't be able to limit myself to 500 words.
I'm thinking about writing a paper about Cal from Kerosene. It's a reasonably short book and Cal is one of my favorite leading characters in any novel. But then...I'm still not sure of any specific topic to write about, other than possibly the importance of characters like Cal in novels. But then I would need other books to compare as well.
I need to apply by March, but the earlier I apply, the better. I'm hoping to get this done by the end of this week. And no, I'm not asking you people to write it for me. I just need ideas because otherwise I'll never be able to decide and I might not be able to get into the university.
Oh, and the poll is limited to those options because those are the books I own. It'd be difficult to write a paper about a book I've never read.
Thanks, everyone~!
