I thought it might be easier this way to pick a title to choose a name for the website from, rather than argue in a long thread.
The poll's open for two weeks.

Sort of pulling it from the other thread, but the ideas of Base Usido and Netherfane (sorry if I spelled them wrong) are my current favorites. Although I do still like Territory West 190, but I agree with shy in that it sounds a bit more forboding.
And going with a sentimental title of Chris's sounds perfect, since the site is for him.

I was torn between Poison and Broken Sky, but went for Broken Sky in the end because there were quite a few of the names listed that I think would be very cool for a fansite.

I'll re-state what I said in the other thread about a year ago.
Not everyone has read ALL the books, especially not BEFORE hanging out at a fansite anyway. A fansite's name should be easy to understand for all people interested. So a "name from one of the books" is not necessarily the way to go. ("The Crooked Lanes" confused the hell out of me when I got here, not having read Alaizabel at the time, and I did have trouble finding the forum in Google even after I knew it existed - if not for the link on Chris' official site, I wouldn't be here!)
In fact, I would still much prefer something clean and easy a la "Chris Wooding Fansite". There will be enough opportunity to reference the contents of his books in, well, the site's content areas.

In fact, I would still much prefer something clean and easy a la "Chris Wooding Fansite".. But the site also needs an interesting name. Not all people need to read the books before coming here, or the site, etc. I haven't. I don't care if we pick a name from one of the books I haven't read (I only made the poll to stop the arguments from the previous thread and to get some sort of order). But we can't have a boring name otherwise no one will go to the site, and in the end, majority vote wins anyway. All of that said, my own Broken Sky site has a boring name, but there wasn't anything to fit the website... which is still half non-existinct. On a another note - can I suggest no arguments over a colour scheme until the website name (most likely from a book) is decided, as it would be best to choose a colour scheme that matches the title? Ie, while light and cheery colours would be good, it really wouldn't go with calling the site Fane Aracq or something...

> But we can't have a boring name otherwise no one will go to the site, With respect, I don't think so. We can't have a name NEW Christ Wooding fans don't understand, or they won't find (or remember) the site. But anyway, carry on

If the site had a subtitle like 'a chris wooding fansite' would that make it easier? I don't know if they show up in search engines or not.

They sometimes do. But, for the most part, unofficial fansites don't show up in search engines anyways. You usually have to pay to be somewhat near the begining of the search results. At least, with Google, that's how it is. They show paid-for sites first, then sites that don't pay, but choose to be shown, but those are several pages back. Well, that is, unless your search is pretty obscure and doesn't have many results. So, either way, it'd be hard to find without shoveling out money. *This is all based on experience from the free websites I've had. Maybe it's the servers that cause that result. If it is, then I'm just bad at choosing servers. >_<*
But the subtitle is usually shown, at least if someone were to do a search for Chris Wooding, because the search engines show a bit of text with the words you searched for.

I would think that the subtitle should show up... if not, nothing's stopping people from searching via 'Chris Wooding'.
