It's called the Black Marshes in the book, not the Poison Marshes. I think if we were going for pale colours Base Usido would be inappropriate, considering it's located in Kirin Taq, but I also think it wouldn't matter if people didn't get it. Or at least it wouldn't matter any more than if they didn't get 'The Old Quarter'. If you don't get it, you're just as in the dark with a name like 'The Old Quarter' as you are with 'Base Usido', and if you do get it you get it. If we used one from Poison my vote would be for Shieldtown. I'd take Territory West 190 for Storm Thief, but honestly I think a name from BSky would be friendlier. They're just somehow more welcoming than a name from a dystopian city that the characters are desperately trying to escape. Plus, to judge by what Chris says about BSky on his website, it has a lot of sentimental value to him, so it seems appropriate to choose a name from there. I'm with Zemira and Maliris on the purpose of the site, it should be a proper fansite, with news and graphics and semi-frequent updates. I'm almost entirely computer illiterate, but I'll be delighted to help in any other way that I can.

All I meant was that you don't have to have read Haunting for The Old Quarter to make some sort of sense as a name for a site, whereas if you haven't read BSky, none of the names taken from there will really make sense. I wasn't suggesting that names taken from BSky wouldn't be any good, I was just saying how much I liked The Old Quarter as a name. In fact, I'm actually in favour of a name from BSky for the fansite, my memory just isn't good enough for me to come up with anything astounding.
...actually, in the spirit of BSky, How about something like "The Citadel"?

It's easier for people to recognize if it's referred to as the Poison Marshes.

Sorry, I sounded a wee bit angrier than I meant to, it was late at night. ^^; I think if we did end up using 'Base Usido' that would be fairly self-explanatory since it has the word 'base' in it. Hmm, cool names from BSky off the top of my head include, but are not limited to: Tusami City Omnicaa Ley Warren (I like the word 'warren') Os Dakar Fane Araq Netherfane Surely if they know the book at all they'll recognise 'Black Marshes', and if they haven't read it 'Poison Marshes' isn't going to help.

Tusami City Omnicaa Ley Warren (I like the word 'warren') Os Dakar Fane Araq Netherfane I like Netherfane the best out of the list. Maybe we should make a poll of Chris' books to decide on which book to go with, then pick a name?

Mmm.. I'm stuck on names, but I'm always up for a little bit of image making. And I'm sure I could rustle up my coding skills for a layout if you'd like...
As for names? I'm hung on Aricarat. But that's just me.
The thing is. Is the site name going to be in the URL? If it's in the URL... well short things make better impressions.
I suck at thinking of names ._." I like singular words. Like, Hierophant. Or Aricarat. Or or or or Aberrant, even.

Yes, most likely, the name will be in the address. But either way, the address won't really be simple. It'll most like be www.websitename.server/host.com. Or something similar. That's not really that complicated, but it's more difficult to remember than www.websitename.com. But, I'm assuming if people find the site and like it, they'll probably just bookmark it anyways, and not even pay attention to the web address. And I think we should stick to place names. Abberants and Hierophant are people, and it'd seem like the website about them, at least to me. But, we should probably keep this discussion in the poll.

I didn't actually look at what the site name was for a few weeks. *laugh* I agree about sticking with place names. A website is a place, after all, so it makes sense to give it a place name.

I know that wouldn't really help people who found the website through a search engine, but as you said most people will bookmark the site if they like it. But I was also thinking that a lot of people who go to the fansite will find it through here, considering the amount of guest users we get on this site
