I liked X-Men, although I wasn't raised on it. I grew to like it. ^_^ That being said, I mostly like Ice Man, Pyro...I don't really know too many characters. I unfortunately only know those from the movie and some cartoon we had here in late 90's or so. Kitty was okay...I could only take her in small doses. I did not like Cyclops or Jean Grey at all.
And camy, though I don't know the exact situation you refer to, I think I agree. I can't stand when people think they're being edgy for including a gay character. >_< And, yeah, when they're proud of themselves for it. I'll be right with you to smack them.

Trudi Canavan is guilty of that in her Black Magician trilogy too, it just reads like a token gay couple with no proper character development or emotional depth.
@ camybaby
No DC characters interest you? None at all? Awww... not even the really obscure ones like Klarion the Witchboy (he needs more love!!), or the Shadowpact team, or Kid Devil?
I like Nightcrawler, the Human Torch and Iron Man best in Marvel... Emma Frost is pretty amusing too.

Well with the major DC characters like batman and superman I can't really relate to or identify. Thats the major characters that you associate dc with.
The thing writers need to treat homosexuality in a character as no diffrent in a hetrosexual one. I'm gay but I'm not just gay, I used to ride horses and did martial arts. i enjoy reading, drinking beer, I like rock music, I hate cheese, I love action movies like die hard etc. There are more facets to a characters personality than their sexual orientation. Few authors portray gay characters as anything other than busy being gay. Usually they are a poster child for gay rights which is harmful since yet again we are just seeing a cardboard cut out of idealism.

Preaching to the choir, camy. ^_^ It's amazing...I'm a lesbian, but *gasp* I can be girly too! Oh my god, I know, how is that possible?!? I mean, I'm quite the fangirl when it comes to anime...although I generally squeal more for girls now, lol. But I'm a gamer too (which MO still thinks is a men-only thing >_<), and I never ever wear skirts if I can avoid it.
But I like normal stuff too. Most people don't even realize I'm gay when they first meet me, unless I'm with my fiancee, in which case, it's pretty obvious.
And Batman pwns Superman, hands down, no contest. ^_^
Anyways, back to topic: I think it's cool that Chris said that a script would be pretty easy for this one. ^_^ That's a good sign, not that I'm going to stupidly believe that was his way of saying, "Oh, yeah, I'll definitely make one now". ^_^ I think we need to pool our money (after buying The Fade of course) and send it in to make Chris Wooding movies. ^_^ Who's with me?

The thing I like about Superman is the fact that you can't relate to him. When people need a hero, they don't want an emotionally screwed weakling who can't come to decisions about anything. Superman is a true Hero, in the original sense of the word, a faultless immortal like Hercules or Oddyseus. One we can all look up to.
Don't get me wrong, I love the humanization of superheroes as well; the recent Spider-man movie was one of my favorites ever, and it's about nothing but his internal conflict of selfishness vs. selflessness. But they're two entirely different genres.
And I'm with you, zemira. *hands over his little sister's piggy bank*

I need my money for my world domination plan, but once I'm Queen if Earth I'll pay for it. I agree with Thunderous about Superman. I mean, the character himself annoys me, but some heroes it's okay for them to be human (the Teen Titans for example) and some you really want them to just be strong and perfect and someone you could aspire to be, not someone who shares all your stupid teenage problems (SUPERGIRL). Mary Marvel > Supergirl (or she was until she turned evil, damn you DC!!)

Well heros wise I look for some one I can relate to. I like characters who are a bit screwed up, they can even be really weak but they keep on fighting. Thats why I liked Ripley best in teh first alien film when she was just a remarkably adabaptable human. Same reason why I origionaly liked my fav x-man Psylocke, she was tradidionaly the under dog, she would get her ass kicked ina major way but she learned from it, picked herself of the ground and still fought on. She adapted and learned to expolit the her surroundings, enemies waeknesses etc to win which I find a lot more enjoyable. Thunderous you need to reread bout Hercules I mean the man was not a faultless hero, he brutally murdered his wife and children in the myth.
Semi back on topic, I may buy the strom thief. Won't be around christmas time though since I have to get the fade first. I wish i had more money an dtime to read what I want. grrr

i'm sorry unfortunate was a bit harsh. It was that it was really awkward. I was excepting a really cool rock and roll anime and then...... (i'm sorry there is no way of me getting out of this hole that i've dug myself in) =(

It sounds like you think that straight people can't be interested in shonen/shojou.
Then it's probably a good idea to look the manga or anime up on the internet or something before you buy it.

I was watching the movie 'The Children of Men' when I saw the most perfect actor who could take role of Rail. His name is Charlie Hunnam and in 'TCoM' he has perfect dreads.
