I liked that Chris did the thing with Rail that lots of good authors do. Never calls him "black" or anythignlike that, but you know. it's awesome.

That struck me too, but what I liked most was his resiperator (I spelled that wrong, didn't I?). I've never read a book where a character had one. I know it sounds mean, being how the Storm Thief stole his breath and stuff, but I liked that little handicap of his. [but Chris Wooding did a wonderful job creating the characters! <3] Um, is that odd?

Yeah, the respirator thing was cool... I mean Rail was the one with the handicap, but he was the one who always got stuff done.

Yeah, it was new twist on the challenged hero. It was awesome to watch him work around it.

Storm Thief (and later the Fade) is where I think Wooding has mastered the art of Character Creation. And even though I started this thread a while ago, I was planning on growing my hair out, cause i wanted Dreadlocks and then i realized HOLY CRAP RAIL HAS THEM (which made me want to grow it out more.)
WHY IS THIS THING NOT IN THEATERS? forget Live Action go straight to Japan; STUDIO GHIBLI

I can't imagine Rail being any other way now. Dreads in real life i think are disgusting.

I wouldn't; Studio Ghibli take HUGE liberties with the plot of the books they work on. Howl's Moving Castle contained almost none of the original plot.

Dreads aren't very nice... I don't think you can wash your hair with them in, so they can't be very nice after awhile.
Only people who really have them out here is the Sudanese... but it looks alright on them, I think it's their culture or something.

On my art course there are loads of boys with readlocks, and you can wash then once they're well worked in. All of the people I've asked wash them with either shampoo or just soap to stop them smelling bad.
