exactly! I'm glad and sad at the same time that Vago couldn't REALLY fly. I'm glad because it would've made the book boring, due to all of the steps that would have been skipped, and I'm sad because Vago is alone again.

I'm happy he couldn't fly, because with human physiology it's pretty much impossible. It would've ruined the suspension of disbelief a bit.

Yeah... it was sort of sad, but it made it more realistic and not nearly as cliche as it would've been if he suddenly COULD fly.

either rail or vago, i like power in weapons an sci-fi humanoids, but i also like cleverness and stealth and rebelion, winning against what seems like an unwinnable battle

Yes, it's hard to pick a favourite...but for me it would probably be Vago. He's a really original character, and I just found him...well, likeable. And, you know, Bane's kinda cool, in an evil-mastermind kind of way. Hehe.

Bane was a nice opponent. Also as he wasn´t some new "Macaan" or something. You know, the final boss the main characters have to battle. Bane pretty much beat Moa and Rail as he was pulling the strings and commanding soldiers. Moa and Rail were more like "people who get involved in something far bigger and have to cope with it". They had no powers but they had each other. I think that´s what I like so much about these two and about Storm Thief in general: The fact that the main characters don´t have to be powerful or strong to be main characters. If you think about it, they didn´t really do much to save the city. XD Nor was it their goal. They just wanted to stay alive.
Just like Vago. Interesting that all three characters, Moa and Rail and Vago, ultimately want the same thing. It´s one of the book´s themes, I guess. :> And that even after being brainwashed, Vago returned to his senses when Moa begged for her life.
That was a bit off topic but it illuminates why I like them all in the end. Moa´s still far too cool but the others are lovely as well. XD

oh man... that was such a hard thing, thinking up a favorite character. i really liked vago up until the protectorate changed him.
i have to say kittiwake.
..jk. i didnt like her much. i really liked moa, because i saw a lot of myself in her. always dreaming about better places, and dependent on other people to feel safe... things like that.

I was really interested in Vago, because he seemed so curious about the world even though he was so detached from it. To me it was like Moa was the only thing keeping Vago from looking at the world through a glass pane.
That, and the way he acted like a child was just really cute to me.
