He once wrote on his homepage that it was a "YA/crossover/whatever book, based on a very strange encounter I had on the Tube." (end of quote)
And he says that it´s a romance. "Obviously."
Other than that? No clue. XD It will, probably, be released in autumn 2008. But that is open for changes, I guess.

At the mo it's on for October next year. It will be YA, though like Alaizabel and Poison etc it's got adult themes and so is more of a crossover. It's a fantasy-horror, it's the first of a series (epicy Broken Sky stylee) and, well, there'll be a big big surprise ;D We're doing something with this book that to my knowledge has never been done before. I'm way excited about it. But it's a secret... And yes, it was inspired by a truly freaky conversation I had with a kid on a Tube train late at night... but I can't say any more without giving it away...

Yes, thank you. Now I wanna read it. XD October 2008, sigh. Tis so cruel!
And, that lucky kid! If he knew he´d be so proud... ;D I just assume it´s a "he".

Oooooooooh....I wanted to read it when he called it a "romance" (~_^) but now, I want it more. And I have to wait more than a year? Ohhhhhhh, so sad...I have no patience. The Fade's not even out yet and I'm thinking about buying Malice. >_<

Epicy Broken Sky stylee horror series? Now I'm going to be dying to read it until it comes out, and that's a whole year away!! Noooo! I'm honestly amazed that you manage to write so much, I mean, you're 30ish right? Even counting BSky as just one like it is on your website that's still 13 books including the two yet-to-be-published ones. Not to mention short stories. That's one-and-a-bit each year!!

And if the numbers alone weren't enough...all of his books are excellent! You'd think if an author focused just on spitting out book after book, the quality would suffer. But not with Chris. It boggles the mind. ^_^

It's incredible, ne? It does mean that I feel more nervous when a new book of his comes out that I do with other authors... I worry that it's going to be really bad, because with a record of really good ones each time the odds of it being a random stinker get higher, y'know? Or at least in my head they do.
I also worry 'cause I get so into them and my emotional equilibrium is quite fragile, so if there was some really distressing philosophical idea in one of them it could make my mental state go into a tailspin.
Fortunately this has not happened yet, even with the big fate/chance/nature of the world stuff in Poison, Alaizabel and Storm Thief, so it's probably a very irrational fear.

It's 13 not including the two newies. ;D Or Pandemonium. I've slowed down a lot lately though; when I was a kid I was blazing through em, but now I spend a lot more time being all artsy and trying to make them good and stuff. Plus I've been spending half my time on script work nowadays, which you guys don't get to see as it's all behind the scenes until/if it gets made... and numerous weird half-breed failed experiments lurking on my computer that never saw the light of day... Shy, I'm sure you'll find one you hate sooner or later! The Fade is pretty different to anything previous, to be honest; it was much more experimental. Some people may not get on with it too well... Anyway, I'm a busy bunny Too many stories, not even close to enough time.

I don´t have this fear at all. But then, there´s a reason why people describe me with " tends not to worry". I must admit the thought never crossed my mind that Chris´ books could become bad but I do see your point. I guess it´s like awaiting the new Star Wars-trilogy impatiently, thinking how wonderful it is to grow up in a time when they´re making more Star Wars-films. And then you watch´em and realize that they are not good at all, that they don´t live up to what the name implies.
One has certain expectations. Especially concerning admired things... But I´m too d**n confident anyway. °-° Maybe I am not critical enough. Hm...
Chris, I wanna steal your computer.

Haha, I wish I didn't worry. I worry so much about so many things, it's going to give me wrinkles.
I don't want to find one I hate, I really want them to all be amazing, I just have a compulsively worrying personality. I'm sorry for my terrible counting, I couldn't even learn my times tables, counting up in my head automatically makes me forget at least one of the things I'm supposed to be counting. >_<
It would be a bit pants if I did hate the Fade, because I enjoy being able to honestly say that I at least like every CW book that I've read. It sounds so cool though, I'm sure I'll love it. I mean, angsty teen fiction is the bane of my literary existance, but I still loved Kerosene to bits. (Literally with my first copy, I read it so often the glue failed!)

I'm kinda like shy...I'm half-expecting one to be bad, mostly because the law of averages says that it must be, unless Chris is like a super-human or something. ^_^
But then...I also realized long ago that the more I look forward to something and get excited about it, the more disappointed I am when it finally comes. >_< I just build my hopes up SOOO high that it can't possibly live up to expectations. So I try not to get excited so it won't disappoint me. ^_^ How's that for logic? lol.
Although, now it's hard not to get excited about Malice and The Fade. I've become so much more of a rabid fan in these past few months.
And I don't think anyone on this forum thinks Chris is dumb. If so, then what the heck are they doing here?!?!
