Christian Bale did a fairly good mockney/estuary accent, despite being Welsh. Though I won't speak for his generic American accent, since I'm not exactly a good judge.
No, I haven't ever watched the Disney Channel. For bad child acting I was more referring to the Harry Potter films, and pretty much every film they've spawned, such as the aforementioned Eragon adaptation. Also everything I've seen with Haley Joel Osmond. As for films with good child actors... uh, Jurassic Park's two were ok?

Christian Bale did a fairly good mockney/estuary accent, despite being Welsh. I was just watching Empire of the Sun the other week, and I have to agree with that. He's very good. There aren't that many child actors that I like to be honest, but one that I have always liked is Anna Chlumsky in My Girl. I think she gave a really good performance.

Yuck, the kids in Jurassic Park were horrible, I thought...I don't like the kids in Harry Potter, although Luna was decent.
I tend to avoid movies with little children because I hate those sappy happy endings they slap on, and because I don't think children are cute, which is usually the reason to see the movie.
I'm sure I did like some child actors, but for the moment, they are eluding me.

Urgh, I also don't like any of the Harry Potter kids except for Luna (Evanna Lynch). Emma Watson makes me want to throw things off the cinema or TV screen. For some reason, I just read this now: I mean, wtf? They would so make money with an Alaizabel-movie!! I know, I would drag all of my friends along to see it at least five times just to be sure! We'll all keep our fingers crossed.

Somehow I don't think the climate would be too friendly towards an Alaizabel movie at the moment. The market's kinda turned against all the post-Harry Potter, post-LOTR fantasy adaptations that were churned out immediately after the two's success. Regardless of the actual material, it would be dismissed as just banking on that popularity and trying to get a bored Harry Potter fan's buck.

Hmm, that's very possible. Although...I'd expect the movie to be more billed as horror than fantasy. But that's probably just me. Also, whatever the rating is/will be will possibly change initial opinions. But, I can see your point. A lot of fantasy books are being made into movies right now, and it'd be all too easy to dismiss Haunting as another one, even though Haunting is probably more original than any of those movies.

Well, it is still taking some time till they start shooting Haunting. So maybe, by then, people will appreciate book-movie-adaptions again. Even though I hadn't noticed that sentiment, being against these kind of adaptions, that is... It seemed more to me that they were making more sequels. ;D But, concerning New Line - they seem to have some financial problems because looks like they didn't pay enough money to J.R.R.Tolkien's decendants or something and they therefore sued New Line. That aside, they are still sitting on "Inkheart" like some paranoid chicken mother. They keep postponing the release-date and stuff. ._. So they really are having some problems. And New Line is fusing with some other film-company, is it not? Gosh, the memories... Ah, well... maybe... one day... they will start shooting Haunting. Till then, there will surely be some other movie written by Chris. Won't there?

I might be biased because Jurassic Park is my fave film ever. Despite me having watched all these clever, mature and/or foreign films, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones 3 are just more fun to watch, hands down.

R New Line are mega busy at the mo making Inkheart and Northern Lights, so whether they'll come back to Alaizabel or not I dunno... wow, chris mentioned about inkheart in 2007 and only know it's coming out. well i guess that means we might be closer at seeing new activity being done for The Haunting Of Alaizabel Cray. maybe not seen... but we might be a bit closer... let's just hope it's not bad activity.

i think people would hate the directors and producers before the fans hated chris. because when it comes to movie versions of books, people hate everything other then the writer.
look at the marvel movies. no one blames stan lee for the inaccurate information in the movies. maybe they should since he always appears in the movies so he has as much right to say anything as anyone else who made them. plus he owns the stories the movies are based on and is the one who okays them. but no one ever says "stan lee did a terrible job on (insert marvel movie)"
so if the movie was to do badly, i don't think the fans wouldn't hate chris for it. true, we know that he's writing the script, but we could blame it on the director for not seeing chris' view of the story.
if anything... the movie may boost chris' book sales. maybe enough to where the out of print books would have to be brought back.

Besides, how could anyone hate Chris? I hope that there will one day be a movie of one of his works

What about Robert Downey Jr. for Detective Carver?
