I mean suggesting that they had a relationship is like suggesting peppercorn and the bone witch had a thing going on. i think I may be sick now... Peppercorn was the Bone Witch's sex slave. Of course! I should put that in my book report, but Ms. Sayers would be like, "What the hell???"

Char! *waves*
I had totally forgotten this tread existed and now I feel like a pervert. XD
My English teacher has picked up on the fact that I can find homoerotic subtext in nearly everything I read. I hope I don't make a bad impression... I can't find much/any in Chris' books, though. That's probably a good thing.

Why's that?

I don't know why Ghostie up there thinks it's a good thing, but I'd hate to find homoerotic subtext in my favourite books; it really annoys me while I'm reading them.
That seems the wrong way round though, in my experience usually it's the teachers who find homoerotic subtext in everything, not the students. I think with my english lit teacher we were compelled to remind her that sometimes a cigar is just a mouthful of ash (as i believe the saying goes).

I find homoerotic subtext in a lot of the books I'm made to read for school, perhaps because I'm bored and need something to do. Here's a list of things I've found since 7th grade (please, don't throw rotten tomatoes even if you're sorely tempted): - Evyn/Harold in The King's Shadow (not a well known book, and for good reason) - Johnny/Dally in The Outsiders (to be fair, this pairing is pretty much canon) - Boo/Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird (along with the crackpot theory my friend and I have that Boo is actually a woman, so I don't know if this counts) - Ender/Bean in Ender's Game Yeah... this is what makes English class fun.

I always used to mime scenes from Star Wars across the classroom at my friend. It's amazing that nobody ever noticed us.

Interesting pairings, ghost, lol. Ender/Bean would be a bit frightening, but I can certainly see it. Atticus/Boo just makes me worry, lol.

The story behind that pairing is that I showed by friend the quote "Thank you for my children" before she had seen Boo up-close and personal. She took it to mean that Boo was really a woman and the mother of Jem and Scout. We never see their real mother, so it's plausable, isn't it?

I personal have no boundaries on who can be in a relationship, but Bram and Poison (though it crossed my mind) never really seemed likely to me. I thought they had a beautiful friendship and Bram was too gentlemanly.
I also ADORE the fact that the story of Poison is pretty much void of any sort of romance. Too many stories throw in romance because that's expected, and it wouldn't have fit in the story, and Chris didn't try to. so much love for that fact.

I never think of these kinds of pairings when I read a book becase I tend to just assume every relationship is purely platonic up until the moment where there's glaring evidence that one character is in love with the other. *laugh*

Me too, someone has to point it out to me before I spot it if it's based purely on subtext.

Not me, I'm always pairing up the characters, but for some reason, I tend to think of the straight relationships first. I didn't consider Brom and Poison as a couple at all because of the age difference. And it wouldn't have suited either character.
