Well, it's definitely not non-alcoholic beer, because I'm pretty sure that's impossible.
Although only in the same way as vegetarian haggis is technically impossible.

Root beer is that famous liquid with which you have to kill the ghosts in Monkey Island 1. Although, techincally, ghosts are already dead but you know what I mean. <.<" >.>" I don´t like the taste of it, though. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_beer

I don't like root beer either. Give me real beer any day.

Sarsparilla! I love Sarsparilla tablets (I actually bought some today!) but never had a drink containing it before. Now I really want to try some.

...Wow. I didn't know ther were people who didn't know what root beer was or never had it. Anywhos, root beer is good, but its not something I could drink all day or a few days in a row for that matter. It's really, really sweet. I wouldn't be able to compair it to real beer, since I don't drink, lol.

I'm trying to think of an example and can't...

Hah, I know what you mean. I just never thought root beer was one of those things, lol. I thought it was known world-wide & I guess I figured there were A&W's (fast food joint + root beer company) everywhere...
This reminds me of the time I was talking to this dude in New York and he had no idea what Denny's was. When I said I was at Denny's he thought I meant I was at some club or something, when in fact Denny's is a restraunt...

I've heard of sarsparilla, the dad of one of my friends apparently loves it, my friend says it's revolting...
It kind of reminds me of black cherry vanilla coke... there's an American lolly/candy shop in the city and they sell some American fizzy drinks (must see if they have root beer), I took a mouthful and American coke must have like a hundred cups of sugar to every one in coke over here... ugh.
I don't think there's any popular Australian places named Dennys... however we do have Wendys, but for us it's an ice cream shop, rather than a restaurant.

Yeah, root beer is basically a soda. I can't stand the stuff, but that's just me. I'm not sure where the name came from, but it is indeed non-alcoholic.
Wow, I didn't even realize Denny's wasn't a nation-wide chain. Man, I used to go there every morning before school. I even had a "regular" lol.
Actually, the Wendys here in Missouri are kinda famous for ice cream. I mean, they're mainly still a fast food place, but a lot of people really enjoy the ice cream.

I've never been to a Wendy's *sobs*, but I remember how on TV they always played commercials for their kids meals (when I was little, that is) and they always had the best toys! And I'd ask and ask to go there so I could get the kids meal, but for some reason my parents never took me. I guess they had a bad exerpience there? So.. I just had to settle for McD's and Burger King.
And I was talking to my mom last night, and I guess even in Pennsylvania and other "country" places here in the US don't call it rootbeer, but they call it sarsparilla.

Hmmm...MO is apparently known for root beer, which I had never known, lol. I've never heard it called sarparilla here, though.

As it is there's an empty Burger King bag in the rubbish bin under my desk right now. Wendy's over here sell hots dogs, but never burgers and that sort of thing. Mostly ice cream. I don't go there cause I don't eat ice cream anyway...

My stomach has a hatred for ice cream, milk, normal cream or yoghurt (yet I can eat cheese, and chocolate... go figure).
I eat gelati to make up for things.
