I hate most all bugs, so I don't really mind my cat torturing them. In fact, I torture spiders and thingyroaches all the time by spraying them with one of those air sanitizers. It's not like bug spray so it won't kill them right away, but it coats their body and they die a slow painful death. ^_^ I still swear I'm not morbid.

No offense, but that isn't morbid, that's just cruel. There's a big difference. A morbid person is someone who sees death imagery in everything or gives an air of thinking suffering is inevitable. A person who causes suffering deliberately and enjoys it is sadistic, not morbid. Although it's perfectly possible to be both I suppose.

Yeah, I'll say I'm both. And I am sadistic, and take no offense in being called as such. But at least I only do it to bugs, and not other animals or people. Unless you count Sims, but they're not even real.

I'd be much more worried if you did it to larger animals as well... Still, it's a bit mean to use an air sanitizer, ordinary bug spray is painful enough and that's meant to kill them.

Bugs have feelings too! I try not to kill them if I can help it - usually I'll chase them about with a beaker and a piece of card so that I can catch them and put them outside. I always feel horribly guilty if I ever kill one.
Not wasps though. I hate wasps. They're evil.

This is only for the first book on my part. I liked Kaiku becuase I could see myself being like her. Letting destiny controll me but being stubborn enough to follow through whatever it said. (maybe not the mountain but still) And she was really cool. However, I also REALLY liked Zaelis. and Anais. When Anais died I was incredibly upset. She was so cool, and strong. Plus, I was the same as her, thinking that Durun had his moments and might be ok aftrall. no...no....and then Zaelis fell off his horse and I was almost creaming "NO! NO! YOU CAN'T KILL HIM TOO!!!!" but he was ok, and the limping just makes him more of a lovable old man.

oh, also Cailin. She was so cool.
And Yugi immediately got a soft spot for.

I've now finished the series and my favorite characters are still the same.

It had to be Tsata for me. That guy was just so adorable! Also one of the only characters you knew wouldn't have any hidden agenda, and the only of the 'main' protagonists that wasn't in the fight for selfish reasons.
Another favourite was Kaiku, although Tsata won out in the end. I think her character development was the most significant throughout the trilogy, and she was generally likeable.

My soft-spot character was Purloch. Not sure why, really, I just kind of liked him. And I felt so sorry for him when he took them back into the sewers. Why do I have the feeling he became shin-shin lunch? (I'm still only on the 2nd book)

I think my soft-spot character was probably Runfey. I mean, even his name was happy and adorable!! Then he dies!

I've still got the third book to read, but I really loved Laranya's poet friend, Ezrel. He's just awesomeness <3

I liked Laranya a lot too. After reading the second book, though, I like Lucia less. I don't really have a clear-cut favorite anymore. >_>
