Thaniel is an abbreviation of Nathaniel. Personally, if I have a son, he's going to be named Thaniel. I just love what it implies, the connotation of it. Daughter's gonna be Poison, 'cause I'm vindictive like that.

I know that in real life it's an abbreviation, but since he got an existing name that he didn't know about out of two other existing names I was curious to see if it had happened more than once. My children's names are all picked out, they're all going to have normal-ish first names and crazily weird middle names that I wish could be their first names but I'm not that mean. I also love the names of all the wych-kin and such. Thatch just seemed like such a great name, even though it makes me think of thatched roofs. I know most of the wych-kin were real legends and so came with their names as it were, but still, there are thousands of legends to choose from and I love the ones he picked!

Thatched roofes! Yes, me too!! XD
But if I had a Thatch sitting on my roof I´d run away.
The names, character names as well as wych-kin names, created such a skin-crawling atmosphere. Everything sounded so magical and wicked, or to put it more simple: Plain cool.

Actually, Seregwen named her car Thatch. ^_^ It's very old, and has a blood-red interior. It's grayish outside, and kind of imposing when driving. It's a perfect Thatch...if Thatch were a car, that is.

Yes, but I say it the same way, and I have an American accent. So your accent theory doesn't work. Oh. Well, maybe we just think outside the box, so nyeah. Thaniel is an abbreviation of Nathaniel. Personally, if I have a son, he's going to be named Thaniel. I just love what it implies, the connotation of it. Daughter's gonna be Poison, 'cause I'm vindictive like that. Haha, I was thinking of calling my son (when/if I have a son) Thaniel. I think I felt guilty at having unusual names lined up for if I have a girl and then common names for boys, so Thaniel's a good choice as it's unusual without being too weird. My children's names are all picked out, they're all going to have normal-ish first names and crazily weird middle names that I wish could be their first names but I'm not that mean. Ahh, you're too kind. I have all sorts of names lined up for when I have children and I won't feel remorse at giving them those names. I guess it's because my first and middle name are so common. I was nearly called Brooke - how unfair that I wasn't, as I really like that name. Thatched roofes! Yes, me too!! XD But if I had a Thatch sitting on my roof I´d run away. Teehee, that made me smile. I got a funny mental image of Thatch on a thatched roof. ;D

Haha, don't think I'm too kind, if any teacher is in the habit of reading out their full names they'll never live it down.
But yeah, Nathaniel, Isaac, Rueben and Thomas will be their not to horrible first names. (They're tailored to match hair colour...) Or Violet, Alice, Harriet and Ivy for girls.
Back on topic, I also love the place names, like 'Crooked Lanes' and 'Old Quarter'.

And Crofter´s Gate.
Call me stupid but I cannot find this street anywhere. I have this feeling it does not exist. ;]

Kirina and I looked for it last time we were in London but we couldn't find it, and it's not on the A-Z road map...

Nope, Crofter's Gate I just made up. However, you can go visit Camberwell, the nexus of all evil, if you like

No, that'd be too easy. Besides, I doubt your school existed back in Victorian-era London...if it did, that's one old school!

Maybe it didn´t but was built on some graveyard! D:
-
I knew it! I was scanning London maps looking for this Crofter´s Gate and never found it. XD The Crooked Lanes are in Camden, though, aren´t they?
And yay for nexus of evil. When Wollschaf and I visited London we faithfully kept to the northern part of London. Once, when our bus driver told us that by crossing this bridge we were now south of the Thames the two of us shrieked in horror. <- dramatized So we had no time to look for the nexus of evil. |:> But it´s on the list.

No, that'd be too easy. Besides, I doubt your school existed back in Victorian-era London...if it did, that's one old school! Maybe it was built from old building materials that were used in Victorian-era London. I don't know. It's just a very evil place, that's all, and 90% of people that go there end up evil. That includes the teachers too. ;D

I always thought Ezreal reminded me of Gargamel's cat Azreal, as for Alaizabel i thought it was a knock off of Elizabeth Bell or something. I love all the names in this book esp. Jedriah and i have an aunt named kathleen haha...although cathaline is totally different and beautiful as well.
