Me too, but that's a really western thing. I've never seen a gothic picture that came from Japan that included rain. I'm sure in Japan they'd think the english cover doesn't fit too.

...I pretty much think I just died a little on the inside. I love the cover I own to death (heck, I even got it laminated..............nothat'snotweird:D!) but the Japanese cover is pure AWESOME. How much does a plane ticket to Japan cost, anyone?

Um, a lot. Lol, depending on round-trip and whatnot, they go from anywhere between $2000 to $5000. I was going to go to Japan this summer but the trip was canceled last minute.
And now I want to laminate my covers of Haunting...including the hardcover...

I have a desire to get it...just to see what honorifics they use. If any. I would luve to see Alaizabel saying "Thaniel-kun!" and "Cathaline-san" and so on. Also...I want to know how they refer to Stitch-face, because the "-kun" doesn't seem like it would work for him.

I imagine Stitch-face wouldn't have an honorific. After all, Stitch-face-chan might send out the wrong message.

I think the colors on the cover are too bright for the story, like the white should be tinted yellow or something so the contrast isn't so profound... I think it needs more browns and reds in the mid-tone too, but it's beautiful nonetheless. (Thaniel looks like Naruto's Dad to me. >_<)
You ever wonder what it would be like if Chris held a contest to see who drew the best cover for his book, then used the winning design? Neat, but probably not very doable.
@ shy/zemira: They might use -dono or something really formal for him... My Japanese isn't all that fantastic, though.

I think the most likely honorific would be -shi, which is like -san but for someone the speaker has never met. I don't think serial killers get to have a respectful suffix though.

I've never heard of -shi, and I take japanese, so maybe I missed something, haha! Incidentally, -kun is used for boys and not adults, and only if you are familiar with eachother (some people carry on using it into adulthood because it's so kawaii desu! and because it's habbit). The most overlooked honourific is a complete lack of one, which means either disrespect (for strangers) or great amounts of respect (friends). Cloud Cadet: He does doesn't he? ^_^

I just know that from subbed anime, the villain always got a respectful honorific. It sort of makes sense if you look at some of their culture, don't they respect the power of their opponent or something? Then again, maybe the Japanese would stick to western culture and show disrespect for the villain by disregarding the honorific all together. Who knows?
PS. He really does! It's scary!

I can see Thaniel and Cathaline not using honorifics for each other, but Thaniel and Alaizabel would use one at least at first to address the other. And, I know -kun is for younger boys, but I think of Thaniel as young, and I think it'd be cute. ^_^ And Alaizabel-chan. Craddlejack-chan. I don't expect to see any honorifics for Stitch-face, but it would be cool to see them if he had any.
