Rawhead comes from Irish mythology. He is kind of a mix between the boogieman and Santa Clause. He takes bad children out of their beds and drowns them and rewards the good children with presents. Wierd.
Rawhead is probably my favourite or mabye it was the carddle-jacks. I dont know I love them all. The wych-kin are the best. I think the wolves were cool too, even though they arent wych-kin. Like when there were flaming world in the Underground! OH GOD! I loved that part.

Rawhead really creeped me out. The whole rhyme thing and not looking back, I think is what creeped me out. I loved the Night Mare too, though. All the wych-kin are pretty creepy though.. I mean, I certainly wouldn't want to meet any, hah.

That creeped me out too... I like the Hallow Ghoul. It wasn't as blood thirsty and vicious as the other ones. It could be simply deterred and only wanted to protect the church.... and it didn't scare the hell out of me like the other wych-kin.
I haven't read the Haunting in a while (one of the Chris Wooding books I don't own, sadly)...hmmm....*runs off to pillage local library*

I really liked the wych-kin that dropped stones around that woman's house until it collapsed in on itself. (I can't quite remember what it was specifically called.)
I don't really know why, but it's... sluggishness... just stuck with me.

Oooh, yeah, I remember the salamander. The chapter of all the wych-kin is one of my favorites in the book. ^_^ It was just so much fun seeing all the different kinds.

Yeah, that was one of my favourite chapters too! I liked seeing how they were affecting all of those different people all across London.

That was the Night Mare. And it was one of my favourite scenes because it was written so... matter of factly, making me thus smile. Am I weird of what? ... painting the white sheets in shocked flowers of red.(Random fact: this whole part had been taken out in the German version. You can probably imagine how furious I was. )

... painting the white sheets in shocked flowers of red. I do love that line. ;D I wonder why it was left out of the German version?

I have no idea. I think the German version stops when poor Claris or whats-her-name dies of an heart attack. It leaves out the drops of blood. And the drip, drip, drip. The only reason would be that they thought it too graphic but gosh, the whole book is a horror novel so that reason isn't not really plausible. Maybe the translator didn't know how to translate it properly and just left it out. He surely didn't know how to translate in the first place... I loved the whole chapter 20: Portents, The Night Mare, The First Dark Day. It was so creepy and evil. Introducing likeable characters only to kill them at the passages' ends to show what kind of wych-kin exist and how they kill their victims. And. Chris killed Potter!
